Dear old dude Mårten,

I hope that you are well and feel loved by and hope towards the future of those nearest to your heart and mind. I know that the 2019 version of me (today that is) wished and hoped for that I did all within my power to turn the world around without loosing sight on the beauty of being alive. I hope you still have the courage to do so and feel empowered by others coming together to solve the climate crisis and that it hasn’t developed into a climate emergency but instead that the world, for most parts, has been steered into calmer waters.

I wish that I, by then will feel at ease, fulfilled and content and that I still feel empowered and powerful to continue that journey in the second half of the 21st century.

Salve! /Mårten

More Messages to the Future

Dear Elliott,

We’re moving into uncertain times, and your dad and I worry. A lot. But you’re keeping us going. You’re pushing us to make better choices and not give up.

To all the people here on earth,

Who knows what the future would look like? or what will happened in the future? No one knows right? That’s why it it’s scary because we don’t know what lies ahead. We couldn’t stop the future but we can always change it.

Dear girls,

I love you and I care deeply about your future.

Dear Tomorrow,

Don’t use plastic straws!

Anya,

All you can do is your best. You can encourage the same in others. You can admit your mistakes and those of your ancestors. You can learn from them, and help however you can. I’ll do the same. I promise.

Dear June and Colin,

I’m sad and angry that collectively more has not been done to this date. And that still with such dire warnings, obvious impacts, those in power are acting far too slowly.

To my children,

I hope that the fervor that is building continues to build and spread and that the world has made progress to minimize the effects of our past actions.

Dear future niece or nephew,

We loved hiking, camping, biking, swimming and playing as kids together.

To my future self,

It is today on March 6th, 2017 that you have made the decision to make a difference in this world.

Dear Future Me,

I hope that when we look back on these years,  you’ll see that humanity can be good. That we joined together and fixed it because of we don’t, who will?

Dear next generation,

Please don’t wait to see the adverse effects instead adopt that river, stream, lake or ocean to make the world a better place.

Dear Devon and Chloe

I hope that my work helping to make your schools more sustainable will be something you carry on as you grow older.
