Dear Malasher and Alex,

I’ve known you both since you were in elementary school. You know I do what I do because I care passionately about our planet and the people in our community.

I’ve never thought my goal was to have all of you go into environmental careers. My goal was to help you grow into better citizens of our planet; to help you care about our natural world and to make everyday choices that reflect concern for our beautiful earth and our own health as well as encourage you to work together to make changes in our community.

I recently had another energy audit of my house and they came back and blew cellulose insulation into the attic area. I’m hoping I can work with this company to further insulate the walls and eliminate the serious coldness in the upstairs bathroom. I’ve been trying to qualify for programs to help me get solar panels but everyone says my electric bills are so low that it’s not worth it. 🙁

We are currently sharing some of the information that you helped work on with new residents to our community. And we’re including a flyer to let people know how they can get help with getting a free home energy audit. We need to start at home even when working on a global problem like climate change. We need to speak up and speak out. We need to be the role models for the future.

The photo I’m attaching here is from a couple years ago and was taken in front of the Queens Botanic Garden’s LEED building. Give my love to Brandon and Haydee, too. I can’t believe you’re all 16 this year!

Love,
Laurie Farber

More Messages to the Future

Dear Tomorrow,

And, if this summer has taught me anything, I am content (because I have to be) living in this limbo, this seemingly endless waiting for the opportunity to change, when really the opportunity exists within our very selves all along.

Dear Tomorrow

Stay Cool and Save the Whales

Dear Tomorrow,

We only have 11 years left until the damage done by climate change is irreversible.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to use my reusable water bottle more often

Minhas lindas,

As causas das mudanças no clima são tão profundas e envolvem tanta gente e tantos lugares.

To all the people here on earth,

Who knows what the future would look like? or what will happened in the future? No one knows right? That’s why it it’s scary because we don’t know what lies ahead. We couldn’t stop the future but we can always change it.

Dear kids of America,

Please eliminate plastic everything

Dear future 82-year old me,

29 years later, I wish I still can ride bike and go some lovely places in nature. Sky is blue and air is fresh, I will be shining under the sun.

Dear Future Self,

I am scared of the things happening right now with our planet.

Para minha querida filha, Vitória,

Consegue compreender que estamos aqui de passagem e que temos por obrigação apenas tomar emprestado, evitado excessos e principalmente agradecer.

Dear Ari and Levi,

Luckily, we have figured out ways to build things without making the air dirty, and we are trying very hard to get more people to switch over to this new way as fast as we can.

Querido amanhã,

Em fim, espero que você receba essa mensagem, e entenda o quão pequenos nos somos e como é importante preservar o planeta terra.
