I wish I knew how to be a more effective communicator. I can do a lot in my own life to make sure you have a viable future, but I want my actions to be more contagious and effective at mobilizing others. I hope I can figure out how to do this in time to have a large enough impact that you can thrive and be happy.

My promise is to continue to dedicate my life, my business, and my future to creating cultures that embrace environmental action not only for our own good, but the good of the countless other species hurting from climate change.

So today, my strong and spunky girl, I promise you this: I will stay vigilant and flexible. I will spread the word.

I promise to only use metal straws and reusable cups.
To the generation after mine,
But when you encounter that resistance–and you will, regularly–know that you must respond just how we have had to these past 50 years. With love, and sternness, and most of all, courage. Because that is what the resistance fears the most. We who came before you promise that we will do the same while we wait for you. Know that you will never be alone.
