Dear my son Cobyn and any other children I have after him, and grandchildren thereafter.

I loved life and living, and being a mother most of all was my most precious days. As I grew older and realised the effect of the “carbon footprint ” on the world I couldn’t believe how consuming the world was and what damage we had done to the world and left behind for future generations.  After watching Before the Flood I have tried my hardest and best to reduce our footprint as a family in our every day life, recycling, reusing, using as less electric as possible, being more at one with nature and adopting a more natural way of life, through diet and being outdoors in the natural environment etc. I love you all very much and pray with my whole heart you all get to enjoy the world the way I did. Never waste a second live a full life. My love eternally Allana Milliken xxx

Ps I know your dad David John Milliken will agree with theses words. He was a huge part in our knowledge as a family to live healthier and wiser x

More Messages to the Future

Dear child,

The journey of humanity does not take us to Mars like the world now likes to believe. It takes us home to our true self where there is no separate self. Where we are all one. You know all this. Look after yourself my child, look after your brother, your friends, your children, all the animals and the whole planet. Love them like there is no tomorrow.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will convince my family to switch their gas appliances to electric.

Dear Grown up Alton and Dot,

The most important thing in my life is you, which means that as your mom – I am doing my very best to make sure that when you read this letter, Earth is a cleaner and safer place for you and your children.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to include the trees and animals in all my decisions.

Dear Kiya,

Fighting for a system that rewards care for people and planet over profit.

Dear Maret,

Right now I want to be hopeful. Right now I want to think that we took action to ensure this beautiful future for you.

Dear Elliot and Alana,

But being truthful, I know we are not yet on the path that will lead to the change that is needed; but it is visible.

Dear Tomorrow,

And, if this summer has taught me anything, I am content (because I have to be) living in this limbo, this seemingly endless waiting for the opportunity to change, when really the opportunity exists within our very selves all along.

Dear Tomorrow,

I will work to restore the wetlands.

Dear James,

More importantly, what are we doing to better our planet and everyone who lives in it?

Dear sons,

I’ve been so busy since 2012 working towards getting a price on carbon.

Dear future child whatever your name is,

Climate change right now is really bad, I’m writing this during the COP26 conference in Glasgow (which is an hour away) and I’m listening to politicians talking about promises for the future. “If we fail, future generations will never forgive us.” -Boris Johnson
