To the World,

It is the year 2018 and we are on the verge of adaption from global climate change. Fortunately we still have time to mitigate and have positive changes that hopefully have allowed you to enjoy how beautiful nature is at reasonable temperatures. I have come to the conclusion that having an education is a powerful tool to change the world. I am working hard to become an environmental lawyer and help make changes that will force and put pressure on people and government to change old ways that are destroying the future. I hope that the moment you read this I was able to make a change in the world other than driving an electric car, recycling and lowering my energy use. Today, change must be done in order for you to enjoy what I have. I hope the entire world was able to stop using fossil fuels and completely progressed into clean energy. Yes we should have stopped using fossil fuels since the 1970s, however some greedy companies pushed for it as energy because it is cheap and generates billions. Hopefully even those companies have come to the realization that clean energy also generates revenue if all they care about is money. I hope I did my part in saving the Earth when you get to read this.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to work with my family and neighbors to reduce carbon output.

I promise to pick up trash at every beach I visit, use metal straws, take quick showers.

Queridas filhas Ana Luísa e Ana Carla,

Que vocês possam contar para seus filhos e netos que minha geração tomou consciência de sua responsabilidade e assumiu sua condição de natureza e a ela se reintegrou, com inteligência, interação respeitosa e solidariedade.

Dear Tomorrow,

This is just the beginning. It’s the accrual of little seeds of change that will lead to the tree of revolution.

Dear future me,

I’m doing this work because I see it as the best way to save and improve as many lives as possible. I’m doing it so you, 2050 Ryan, can look at yourself in the mirror. And so you can tell your kids and grandkids someday that you did everything you could.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to turn old shirts into produce bags.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to not waste food and eat locally grown food.

Our Shared Promise

I will act today so you may have a healthy earth to live on.

My darlings, Juno & Vaeda,

I promise to use my reusable water bottle more often

Dear X—, Dear A—,

As with our struggles to eliminate police brutality, as with hate crimes, so it is with climate change – there are actually a lot of people out there who care.

To my Dad,

I hope on this Father’s Day, my 24th birthday, and the rest of days, we remember that the most basic part of life is living happy with the ones we love. Acting every day against climate change will allow us to keep that simple piece of humanity.
