Dear Lachlan,

I hope that the world has gotten better, March 2020-March 2021 has been pretty bad. I hope we have figured out Greenhouse Gases. I hope becoming a lawyer and life has gone well. I promise I will try and eat healthier, Key word try. And if you are wondering why you got this, Mrs.Marcy (Your 7th and 8th grade teacher) had us do this before a science test. Anyways, I ran out of things to write. I hope life has gone well, And you haven’t listened to Hamilton: An American musical in a while. Do that. So, Bye!

More Messages to the Future

Dear Evan,

What has most inspired me to act is wanting to be able to look you in the eye and say, “When I became aware of the existential threat of climate change, I did all I could.”  Despite my pessimism, I act in the hope it can make a difference for future generations and all the precious life on our fragile planet.

To my children,

If there is one thing that I taught you it is to be honest in your decisions as they pertain to yourselves and the earth in which you live.

Dear loved ones in the future,

Even if it pains me to imagine how things are back home in Puerto Rico at the moment, I know things will flourish again. The land will heal, but we need to help it.

Dear Devon and Chloe

I hope that my work helping to make your schools more sustainable will be something you carry on as you grow older.

My darling Cassidy,

I know I need to write this to you, and I don’t want to because it makes me so sad. I have been desperately avoiding my feelings about climate change, for many years, but especially and with greater intensity every year since you were born.

Dear tomorrow,

The blue sky will no longer be grey, and the bleak clouds will be vibrant.

To my daughter,

The climate is quite dynamic these days. Dhaka has dust and warm in this spring.

Dear Tomorrow,

It wasn’t about Him, it was about Us. And this isn’t about Me, it’s about You. And it won’t be about You, it will be about Them.

Dear grand nieces and nephews,

I wish you this security knowing we changed because we love you.

Dear Tomorrow,

I will aim to lower my carbon footprint!

Dear Tomorrow,

I’ll buy only food that I plan to eat before it spoils.

Dear Kids,

I know it’s long past time to wake up. You deserve a future in which drought, famine, and war are not all your children ever know; the choices my generation makes now will determine your future.
