DEAR FRIENDS,

This morning I woke up knowing the world prioritizes economic gain over safety. Today I hope you woke up and didn’t have that feeling. However, I am afraid that this won’t be true, that these materialistic ideals and selfish practices will still be prioritized. I fear the economy and personal gain will take a president over health, over ethics, over the environment. I promise to fight for what I know is right, so that you may live a better life. I promise to advocate, to never give up, never stop fighting; as long as you do the same. Climate change won’t go away until we do something about it. Climate change, for the safety of you, and for people to come, needs to be the number one priority.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Gorasia descendants,

I will do all that I can, and hope my fellow inhabitants join my pursuit, to nurture this planet.

Dear Seamus and Tuva,

So it’s 2050. If the good people are winning the greater struggle, fossil fuels are a shamefully long chapter of the past, and there has been a full scale awakening to the need for only renewable, clean energy.

Dear Future Family,

As I’m sitting here trying to think of the best words to say to you all, I am thinking of one major thing: that I can only hope that you all get to experience the incredible beauty created by our planet.

Dear Tomorrow,

I haven’t met you yet, but I already know you deserve a better tomorrow.

dear earth,

I promise those who walked the Earth before me and those who will walk the Earth after me that I will not stand by and let nature slip through my fingers.

Dear Darlings,

I commit to you to change one thing a year in our lifestyle to live more environmentally friendly.

Dear Maya,

Maya, my love, I promise to be courageous. I promise that when I face a decision, I will think of how it will impact you and your future. I promise that I’ll also step outside my individual decisions and add my weight to the forces that shift culture and systems.

To the wonder,

Dear tomorrow, thank you for letting me ride the wave of wonder that reaches toward you for all generations of all species to come.

Dear Kaydence,

I will keep trying Kaydence, I promise. And I hope we can look back together in 2050 and smile, knowing that our Earth is healthy once again.

To what we’ve overcome.

The first step would be in overcoming ourselves. Because whether we end up fading into obscurity, or thriving in prosperity, we will overcome ourselves.

Dear Students,

My act of love will be to use all the power I have, during the rest of my life, to stop climate change.

Dear Thomas,

When you look at me with those big beautiful eyes and that innocent smile, you make me want to fight harder. And I do.
