Cari nipoti,

Siamo nel 2017 e vi assicuro che sto facendo tutto il possibile per rendere questo pianeta un posto migliore. Ci sono ancora molte cose da migliorare, ma io ce la sto mettendo tutta. Nel mio piccolo contribuisco con la raccolta differenziata ed evitando tutto ciò che inquina. La vedete questa foto? Questa spiaggia? Spero che in futuro sia ancora più bella, più pulita. Vi affido questo compito: non lasciate il nostro lavoro invano. Non smettete di tenere pulito, non smettete di prendervi cura dell’ambiente…è in questo paese che dovrete vivere!

As you look through your window, I hope you will see a bright future. I hope you dream big, and that you have the courage, drive, and fortitude to do everything you can to achieve those dreams.
 

Dear Sadie,

You are young and have a rich future ahead of you. I am retired and aiming for a high quality of cultural life and comfort with whatever time remains to me. I do not want to see a world whose elders sacrifice your future for their short-term needs and personal gain. So it’s up to you and me to speak out.
