to whoever your are in the future,

hi, here’s alan from 2022. At this time, climate change is already a serious issue. I hope you don’t have to be concerned about that, whether the earth is dead or the problem has been solved.

Many people are already acting, and companies also, at least seemingly. Those ordinary people have already done what they can do, but it’s nothing compared to substances emitted by companies, so if your world is bad due to climate change, blame those companies, people have done their best. If the problem is solved, congratulations.

More Messages to the Future

Dear future loved ones,

As I sit here and write to you, I’d like to share with you something more horrifying than a few boos – our current home, Earth.

Isabelle minha querida neta!

Nossa vida só tem qualidade se tem natureza ao nosso redor.

Dear Kiya,

Fighting for a system that rewards care for people and planet over profit.

Dear Future Generations,

I promise to make as many changes to my life as possible to make yours as great as mine.

Dear Students,

I imagine at this point we have dropped our addiction to coal, gas, and oil and that our environment has made a turn for the better with the solar, wind, and other unimagined (at this point) alternative energy choices are in place.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to drive less and walk more.

To my future Niece,

While I will work my hardest to create any positive change I can, you must continue this quest. You cannot give up hope, and you must always remember that the beauty on this Earth is worth saving.

Queridas crianças do mundo inteiro,

Pedimos que vocês procurem fazer como nós e continuem essa luta de colaborar com nosso planeta: evitando o consumo exagerado, usando a tecnologia para o bem, plantando árvores, economizando água e poluindo menos.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to reach out to more people to ditch driving and consider using public transportation. I promise to convince Marin markets that sensible policies in density and mixed use planning will further enhance everyone’s quality of life.

Dear Abigail and Olivia,

What stories will you tell them about our generation? Will we be heroes or villains?

Dear my future child,

I promise you, I am going to do everything I can to save this planet for you. I won’t let you down, I swear.

Dear Potential Future Kiddo,

To think that my choices of sustainable commuting, eating a plant based diet, and working on our City’s zero waste program likely pale in comparison to the impact of not having a baby is nothing short of devastating.  Does it make me a bad environmentalist to honor my maternal instincts?
