Dear World,

I don’t want to sound calloused, but there aren’t many other ways to say this. Billions maybe trillions of civilizations before us have reached the same or a similar dilemma. The heat death of the universe is inevitable. If not climate change, a disease, a natural disaster or an extraterrestrial threat will wipe us out. By preventing climate change, we are only delaying the inevitable.

May the odds be ever in your favor

More Messages to the Future

Dear Levon,

I hope, as your father, I’ve done enough to instill within you how science is a wonderful adventure.

Dear Annalyse and Greyson,

See people can say they care about climate change, but caring is not action.

My darling Cassidy,

I know I need to write this to you, and I don’t want to because it makes me so sad. I have been desperately avoiding my feelings about climate change, for many years, but especially and with greater intensity every year since you were born.

Dear Daughter,

Tonight at bedtime, you asked, seemingly out of nowhere, “why are the glaciers disappearing?”

Loved One,

That we all have a role to play no matter how small, we all can make a difference.

Dear Future Me,

I promise that I will change my behavior to benefit our trees.

Dear friends,

Rather than exploit it, destroy it, poison it, why don’t we just enhance the beauty of it, guard it, and love it?

Dear Evie of 2050,

I can feel the change happening — many people are working to transform the world.

Dear Sinchi,

The world is changing and it is happening fast.

Dear Finn and Cy,

I think a lot about what you might be like when you grow up and about what kind of world you will live in.

Dear Devon and Chloe

I hope that my work helping to make your schools more sustainable will be something you carry on as you grow older.

To all the people here on earth,

Who knows what the future would look like? or what will happened in the future? No one knows right? That’s why it it’s scary because we don’t know what lies ahead. We couldn’t stop the future but we can always change it.
