Dear Tripp,

I promise to do my part, supporting federal legislation to protect our earth while starting small with projects at home. In this next year, we will start composting at home, drive less, walk/bike more, continue recycling, use reusable grocery bags and less water. I have been lucky enough to visit six of the seven continents on this earth and want to share all their beauty with you someday. If we don’t do our part, there will be nothing left to show you or your children. Here we are pictured in one of our favorite places, the Pacific NW – you were 8 months old. Every summer we close our laptops, put away our cell phones, say goodbye to social media and fly here to just be in nature. So many beautiful memories here. My dream is for you to bring your family someday and enjoy what the world has to offer just as it is. I hope the beauty remains.

All my love to you.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Llewyn, beloved grandson …

I can only say that I devoted myself to doing as much as I could to make it better, to provide for a just transition, and to fight those forces that continued to exploit the Eaarth with extractive methods, methods that always also included oppressing some people–because those doing the oppression believed that they were better and deserved more.

To my children,

If there is one thing that I taught you it is to be honest in your decisions as they pertain to yourselves and the earth in which you live.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to become more educated on the global issues that face populations I can’t see

To my grandchildren,

Ahora vivo en la ciudad de México y cuando debe de llover no llueve… cuando hace calor de verdad hace calor.

Tratar de assuntos climáticos com responsabilidade no Brasil

Que se multipliquem estes novos heróis da Terra!

Dear future generations,

Past generations took all the trees, polluted all the water, fished all the fish, and hunted all the animals so that there’s almost nothing nice left.

Dear Generations to Be,

If we could all slow down, look around and connect: with each other, the Earth, the sky, the plants and rocks and animals, then maybe we can all remember to treat everyone and everything with respect and live in love.

Dear Maret,

Right now I want to be hopeful. Right now I want to think that we took action to ensure this beautiful future for you.

Dear Children and Grandchildren,

I see a world full of hope fueled by the desire for change.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will do everything I can to help fight against climate change.

Dear Ellie,

My heart is an ocean of love for all the children facing a life of climate catastrophe.

Dear Nephew,

I am going to start doing better to have a healthier planet for you to live on.
