I promise that I will plant more trees in places where there are none.

Dear Me of 2050,

Each second, ½ acre of forest is cut down so that land can be used for monoculture. It is predicted that at this rate, there will be nothing left of the rainforests in just 100 years from now. When these trees are removed and burned, extra Co2 is released into the air. With fewer trees to absorb it and turn it into oxygen, it lingers in the atmosphere and blocks heats from escaping into space. The average temperature of Earth has risen 15.4 °C (59.72 °F) since 2000. I promise that I will plant more trees in places where there are none. This will help to reduce the greenhouse gas level in the atmosphere lower and the Earth’s temperature. I hope that by the time you read this, a change has been made and the Earth is a clean, green place once more.

Sincerely,

Jed  H.
