Dear Tomorrow, and my future family,

I am writing this in November 18, 2016 to make a promise to myself and my family in the future, to play a part in creating an awareness of climate change. I pray hard that when this message is being read in 2030/2050, the world would be a much better place to live in, a place without pollution, floods and mass extinctions. Today climate change has taken it for the worst especially in the bay area, nonetheless only some of us are taking a stand to face this real threat. What’s more scary is that many of us are well aware of its effects towards the future of our generation, and did nothing hoping for blind miracle. Therefore the purpose of this letter is to apologize for what my generation has done towards our home, the heaven given upon by us by Him was polluted that no man nor beast can step on anymore.

To apologize for the slaughter of all the wonderful species that might one day disappear without a trace. I am truly ashamed for the present that has caused so much destruction that was nurtured by our forefathers, there are so many more but many of the remorse can no longer be describe by words. However there is something that we, I can do now, to feel optimistic that we can change and recover from the mistakes that we made. Everyday, more and more people are helping bit by bit to help cure our planet from its fever, from using solar powered energies to power their home, to carpooling and driving electric cars. As a notable actor, Leonardo DiCaprio asserts “Climate change is real. It is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing out entire species, and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating.” Each and everyone of us is slowly but surely playing a role in this global theater, contributing their efforts to reduce the effects of climate change for our future generations to have a better place to breathe.

So being said all this, what did I do now that would help? Well I am still only a college student but that does not stop me. I have started recycling wastes, using energy efficient light bulbs, and supporting carbon tax. This may not contribute much but I am hoping that as I get old enough, I would hope to become a conservationist and voice out my opinions to everyone, passing on my messages to each and everyone. No matter what, I promise that I will not be quiet, nor make excuses that would not benefit either of us. I know that I may sound selfish by making it seem like I am only contributing because of you guys, but believe me that I truly care for what might happen to the planet and its inhabitants for years to come. I believe in myself that we can all make this changes and I hope that you guys will also believe in me. And lastly, I hope that after reading this message from the past, my feelings and desire would be pass on towards everyone and to generations may come. I hope that you all are healthy and doing well. We only have one home (unless your generation manages to create sustainable living on Mars), so lets cherish and protect it with all our might.

All my love.

Dear Future Me: Only open after March 4th, 2050

I don’t regret my past ventures, nor do I believe I will regret my future ventures, but I’ve learned that I’ve needed to manifest these experiences into actions of sustainable development and conservation and protection of our environment.

Vitória,

Antes de realizar qualquer ação pense no meio ambiente para que suas atitudes sejam pautadas na sustentabilidade. Assim o seu pensar e agir localmente poderão resvalar na escala global.

Dear Tomorrow,

I will stop using plastic and will plant trees. I will also not waste water and electricity.

To our sweet grandson Caleb,

Dear Rosie,

But when you are reading this years from now, by the light of a solar powered lamp, know that your dad, mom and millions of others who burned brightly with love for our kids did what we could, when we knew the stakes.

Dear Tomorrow

I promise to educate others TODAY.

People of tomorrow,

Your path will only be as clear tomorrow as we have made it for you today.
