Dear Morgan,

My heart breaks when I think about the world that awaits you alongside all of humanity if we don’t take immediate and widespread action to combat climate change. I have hope and see people coming together in an equitable way that addresses injustice and living in balance with our Earth. I promise to do more to take action, beyond the personal individual, professional, and household level and into community action and advocacy that holds government accountable and respects those most affected by our unstable climate. I dream of an empowering and equitable world where people come before profit, and I will work toward that dream becoming a reality. May we all live in such a reality by the time you reach adulthood.

With love and hope,

Your mom

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to use my reusable water bottle more often

Hey Kiddos!

My hope for you is that all our legislative efforts and care for the environment makes a difference so that we can wipe asthma out of our family.

Dear Eleanor,

It seems silly to saddle yourself with guilt for something that hasn’t happened yet. I don’t want to do that. As of today, I don’t really feel guilty. I guess I just want to make sure I keep doing more, so that when you read this, and ask what I’ve done since then, I can still feel good about my efforts.

Dear Matthew, Sam, and Sophie,

There is a promise in the Bible: ‘I shall restore the years that the locusts have eaten’ and that points to a promise of complete healing and restoration. But until that comes I intend to do my best to ‘save the planet’ in whatever way I can, and I encourage you to do the same.

Dear Future Grandchild,

We can learn a lot about how to treat others from stories that have been passed from generation to generation.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will use less fossil fuels.

Dear Future Kids Like Me,

What I hope for future kids like me is that they continue to ride the groundswell of climate change support all the way into action.

Dear Tomorrow,

I am so sorry we didn’t realize this predicament sooner.

Dear Nuriel, Eliran, and Rotem,

Sometimes I think we will never make it, but I know we must keep trying.

Hi buddy,

I can now see that the solutions are there, that a transition of the magnitude that is needed, is possible.

Dear Tomorrow,

This is just the beginning. It’s the accrual of little seeds of change that will lead to the tree of revolution.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to reach out to more people to ditch driving and consider using public transportation. I promise to convince Marin markets that sensible policies in density and mixed use planning will further enhance everyone’s quality of life.
