Dear Future Self,

How are you holding up? Is the sky still blue? Is the ocean still blue? It better be blue because I don’t want my future actions, your past actions, to have been for nothing. But let’s be realistic, as a single person, the chances of me saving the planet from immeasurable doom are very low. There’s so much that needs to be done and the majority needs to be done through the changes of major corporations. I am not the CEO of a major corporation, but maybe you are. Okay, maybe ruling over a workplace just isn’t in the stars for us, but I digress. Me not having the influence as Jeff Bezos (Do you remember him? Bald owner of Amazon, the buy something online and have it arrive in a day guy? Yes?) doesn’t mean I can’t do anything. So we’ll see, in the future, your present, have I done anything to better your future? You can say no, but I hope it’ll be a yes.

Dear Me of Tomorrow,

I plan to plant more things this spring, as we do every year in our garden.

To My Future Children,

Most importantly, I hope you live in a world where science is taken seriously and fact is clearly distinguished from fiction.

Dear Llewyn, beloved grandson …

I can only say that I devoted myself to doing as much as I could to make it better, to provide for a just transition, and to fight those forces that continued to exploit the Eaarth with extractive methods, methods that always also included oppressing some people–because those doing the oppression believed that they were better and deserved more.

My Dear Grandchildren,

In writing this letter to you, I am searching for ways to make my connection and commitment to you more present in my current experience

Dear Chay and Kate,

Don’t ever let anyone tell you your actions don’t matter. Every single thing you do matters. You matter.

My dearest Paloma Bear,

I want the very best for you and for generations to come. There is only one planet earth. Your mommy and I will make a genuine effort to make an impact to protect it for you.

Dear future me,

My hopes have always been to live in a brighter and better generation, where women are respected around the world, human rights are respected and last but not least where animals and mother nature is cared for by us individuals.

Dear Tomorrow,

My climate promise: community awareness of the climate crisis.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to try to set up crowd funding for grants to people with realistic proposals to fight climate change.

My darling girls,

I can be brave enough to wake up.

Dear Potential Future Kiddo,

To think that my choices of sustainable commuting, eating a plant based diet, and working on our City’s zero waste program likely pale in comparison to the impact of not having a baby is nothing short of devastating.  Does it make me a bad environmentalist to honor my maternal instincts?
