Dear future me,

I am writing to talk about a factor that affects weather. There are many factor that are causing climate change. One of them is rising sea levels. Sea levels are rising because of ice caps and glaciers melting. This is causing a problem to the cities that are located on the coastlines. They are in danger of going under. Another factor that is making climate change is greenhouse gas effects. Normally the carbon dioxide is something we need. It absorbs the sun’s radiation and keeps us warm. But since the industrial revolution we have been admitting high levels of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This causes more than normal amounts of the carbon dioxide to continue heating up earth instead of being released into space. This is a few of the reasons why climate change is happening.

More Messages to the Future

Querida Emanoely,

Gostaria que você se lembrasse das lições simples que mamãe e papai te ensinou, como cuidar das plantas e dos espaços coletivos.

To the wonder,

Dear tomorrow, thank you for letting me ride the wave of wonder that reaches toward you for all generations of all species to come.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will encourage everyone to adopt a plant-based diet. Good for our health, the animals and the planet.

Dear tomorrow,

If there’s one thing young people have learned while quarantining, it’s that Gen Z holds so much power and is capable of a lot more than we think. We’ve created a community that has united us all and started to bring about change for the good of our futures. Now, with the help of Gen Z (and of course, people of all ages), we have the power to save our home, the Earth.

Dear future 82-year old me,

29 years later, I wish I still can ride bike and go some lovely places in nature. Sky is blue and air is fresh, I will be shining under the sun.

Dear Future Today,

Here in California we’re starting to recognize our climate changing the natural world around us.

Dear Lucy,

The clock ticks, time passes, and the earth and all of its inhabitants move closer to dangerous boundaries we can dimly discern but cannot see clearly.

To My Grandchildren,

It’s my hope that the following will be helpful as you navigate your futures.  These are the confessions of a climate activist:

Dear future generations,

My hope for you is that you can have equal experiences with nature that I was able to have with my dad.

My darling Cassidy,

I know I need to write this to you, and I don’t want to because it makes me so sad. I have been desperately avoiding my feelings about climate change, for many years, but especially and with greater intensity every year since you were born.

Dear Tomorrow,

Awareness is key. Learning about this issue can seem like a small effort compared to other actions, but it’s the most important.

To My Future Nephews,

I want you to see those corn fields in the north, the beautiful beaches down in Florida, and the stars in the woods at night.
