Dear future generations,

I am sorry for my generation for not cleaning up the Earth and not taking good care of it. We are probably the cause of global warming in the future and you all are living from our mistakes we didn’t fix. The water is probably not as clean, the air is polluted from all the factories/trash, cities that have been destroyed and nuclear waste is around from the wars we had. I’m done saying sorry because that isn’t helping with anything and saying it is just wasting time. Now is the time for us to come together and clean the Earth from our mistakes because we don’t have another home except for this planet. We need to get rid of pollution and make this life livable for the sake of humanity. We have to come together all around the world even despite our differences, we all have to do this if we want to survive and have a future for our kids because if we don’t, there won’t be anything left on Earth if we keep letting this issue slide. We are all equal, like it or not because we are all humans at the end of the day.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Evan,

What has most inspired me to act is wanting to be able to look you in the eye and say, “When I became aware of the existential threat of climate change, I did all I could.”  Despite my pessimism, I act in the hope it can make a difference for future generations and all the precious life on our fragile planet.

My dearest children Ameilia and Alivia,

I want you to hear the whispers of the seasons changing. The rustling of leaves as they gracefully cascade down from their limbs in the fall, birds singing in spring, and frogs that serenade the summer night.

To my children,

If there is one thing that I taught you it is to be honest in your decisions as they pertain to yourselves and the earth in which you live.

Dear Devon and Chloe

I hope that my work helping to make your schools more sustainable will be something you carry on as you grow older.

Dear Ari and Levi,

Luckily, we have figured out ways to build things without making the air dirty, and we are trying very hard to get more people to switch over to this new way as fast as we can.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to turn old shirts into produce bags.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to switch from “light” to “deep” green.

Querido amanhã,

Em fim, espero que você receba essa mensagem, e entenda o quão pequenos nos somos e como é importante preservar o planeta terra.

To the generation after mine,

But when you encounter that resistance–and you will, regularly–know that you must respond just how we have had to these past 50 years. With love, and sternness, and most of all, courage. Because that is what the resistance fears the most. We who came before you promise that we will do the same while we wait for you. Know that you will never be alone.

To future Geof,

Cool, now that your jetpack is put away in your garage where you keep your flying car; how did the aliens save us from our own destruction? Did they have this hyper advance vacuum that just sucks all the greenhouse gases out of our atmosphere?

Dear Alanna and Valeria,

I promise you to keep trying, to keep educating, to keep pushing our elected officials to act and protect your health now and in the future.

Dear Tomorrow

I will become the change I wish to see in the world.
