Dear Future Sami Lee,

I hope this letter finds you and you’re laughing at the idea that climate change was such a big deal that I had to write a letter to you. But in 2017, climate change is far from a joke to be laughed about. Currently in 2017, my life motto is “save the motherfucking bees” which also explains the bee tattoo that you have either on your hip of ankle…(am getting this over thanksgiving break…I hope). Everyone currently in life laughs and yells save the bees.  We were a bee this year for Halloween and Lucy even came up with a great slogan “get with it honey”.  I try my best to use sarcasm and humor to educate and make people aware of the environmental crisis we are currently in. It works with the team, and while they all think it’s a joke, they’re learning at the same time. So hopefully you still don’t have to do this, but if you do, keep moving forward and SAVE THE MOTHERFUCKING BEES Love, Sami Lee

Our Shared Promise

I will act today so you may have a healthy earth to live on.

To my dearest Gabriel,

What gives me hope is what is yet to come, what you will experience in your lifetime.

Dear Son,

I hope with effective action to combat this climate change will we have a better world in the future.

Dear Eleanor,

It seems silly to saddle yourself with guilt for something that hasn’t happened yet. I don’t want to do that. As of today, I don’t really feel guilty. I guess I just want to make sure I keep doing more, so that when you read this, and ask what I’ve done since then, I can still feel good about my efforts.

Dear Maya,

Maya, my love, I promise to be courageous. I promise that when I face a decision, I will think of how it will impact you and your future. I promise that I’ll also step outside my individual decisions and add my weight to the forces that shift culture and systems.

My future husband,

I want us to read this in future time and remember all the senses and views we witnessed.

Dear You Tomorrow,

What we failed to do, at least early on, was to see how important it was to put those solutions together. To combine into a way forward.

My dearest Paloma Bear,

I want the very best for you and for generations to come. There is only one planet earth. Your mommy and I will make a genuine effort to make an impact to protect it for you.

Dear me,

Remember how passionate you felt at 20, I hope you keep that passion in you and are still working on climate 30 years from now.

To earth & its inhabitants,

Its been heavy on my shoulders since I found out about the state of climate woes as a child.

Dear Sadie,

You are young and have a rich future ahead of you. I am retired and aiming for a high quality of cultural life and comfort with whatever time remains to me. I do not want to see a world whose elders sacrifice your future for their short-term needs and personal gain. So it’s up to you and me to speak out.

Dear Nova and Remi,

I wish for you both that another kind of life has been discovered, one of peace, moderation and concern for all life.
