Dear Tomorrow,

In the year 2020, your community decided to further develop your downtown area for more apartment buildings and business locations. While doing so has improved the overall look of the area of town, the impact on the environment is devastating. There isn’t anymore green area in Downtown. Only roads and buildings. These buildings have allowed more people to have a place to live and businesses to thrive. Looking at the impact of the loss of greenery shows that it wasn’t worth the immediate profit coming from these locations. We need to take a stand on these developments and take action to protect the remaining undeveloped land we have left. It is important for environmental injustice, education for all, and the overall well being of all living things on the planet. I can see a future where these actions have taken place. It is a brighter one. When I visualize a future where action isn’t taken, the visual is bleak. There is bad air quality, growing respiratory sickness, and the overall well-being of humans is low. We must take a stand and take action to get land back. We must demand renewable energy and planting more greenery. These must be done to have the bright future I visualized to come true. It is up to us. We need to take action now.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Kids,

I know it’s long past time to wake up. You deserve a future in which drought, famine, and war are not all your children ever know; the choices my generation makes now will determine your future.

Dear Evan,

What has most inspired me to act is wanting to be able to look you in the eye and say, “When I became aware of the existential threat of climate change, I did all I could.”  Despite my pessimism, I act in the hope it can make a difference for future generations and all the precious life on our fragile planet.

Dear future 82-year old me,

29 years later, I wish I still can ride bike and go some lovely places in nature. Sky is blue and air is fresh, I will be shining under the sun.

Dearest Finlay,

I hope you are healthy and happy and that you feel supported by the ecosystem around you because we are all deeply truly interconnected. We depend on the earth to take care of us, and nature needs us to take care of her in turn. We all need each other.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to take my bike everywhere. Taking Golden Gate Transit to SF tonight.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to ride a bike and take a smart train.

Dear grandkids,

I believe this fusion of ecology and economy backed by the digital technology is our great achievement.

Dear Children and Grandchildren,

I see a world full of hope fueled by the desire for change.

Cari nipoti,

Siamo nel 2017 e vi assicuro che sto facendo tutto il possibile per rendere questo pianeta un posto migliore.

Dear Tomorrow

I promise to reduce my waste production

Dear Tomorrow and Dearest Lex,

I do believe that the collective power of everyone’s best efforts can curb the worst effects of climate change, and provide you with a more stable and secure future.

Dear Nuriel, Eliran, and Rotem,

Sometimes I think we will never make it, but I know we must keep trying.
