Dear Future Ryan,

I know the world seems messed up right now. That you’re not quite sure who the voice of reason is. So with that we need to make a promise to our self. I promise to continue evolving and to promote well-being in the areas of mental, physical, and spiritual health. I promise to be a knight in the campaign of truth seeking. Lastly, I promise to develop mindfulness and pursue a path greater than myself. If you continue to live your life in this manner, than any obstacle you may encounter will be out-matched by the grit force of perseverance.

For my children,

If we haven’t done enough and the world you’re living on is apocalyptic or if you’re living on another planet then I’m deeply sorry and just know that I believe in you and I know that you are both strong and smart enough to handle anything.
 

Dear Lucie,

Lucie, I love you more than you could ever know and I hope that my promises help contribute to a better world for you and inspire you to take action as well as you grow into the amazing adult I know you will be.
 

Dear Daughter,

Tonight at bedtime, you asked, seemingly out of nowhere, “why are the glaciers disappearing?”

 

I promise to plant more flowers.
