Dear Daughter,

I’m in a state of disbelief about the world we’re leaving you to live in, because we’ve been such poor stewards of it. I promise to angle for change through multiple means: individual actions, influencing our local community, and lobbying for systemic change. I promise to look for levers that have broader influence, like advocating for Indigenous ways of knowing to shape policies. I promise not to give up.

More Messages to the Future

dear future people (:

I am writing this message to you guys. When I look outside my window today, I see a beautiful world that others and myself call “home sweet home.” The trees glimmering in warm sunlight, the air stirring a cool breeze, and the water flowing down rivers are parts of our home Mother Earth.

Dear Tomorrow,

We only have 11 years left until the damage done by climate change is irreversible.

To my grandchildren’s children,

I became an activist to be part of a force to save the natural world and go 100% clean energy.

Dear Tomorrow,

Less meat, more on my feet!

To my Kids,

I wish you all the best and always make sure that you can be proud of yourself and don’t need status-symbols for feeling nice.

To the future generations,

I hope that you all can enjoy the Smokey Mountains in your lifetime too and that they look how they did back in 2017 when I saw them.

My Dear Paloma,

I’m going to commit to raising you with your eyes open. Being aware as much as we can, how to better our environment together.

Dear Eleanor,

Send new updated messages to your loved ones at DearTomorrow

dear earth,

I promise those who walked the Earth before me and those who will walk the Earth after me that I will not stand by and let nature slip through my fingers.

To my future Niece,

While I will work my hardest to create any positive change I can, you must continue this quest. You cannot give up hope, and you must always remember that the beauty on this Earth is worth saving.

To older Rochelle,

You should’ve reduced your carbon footprint, should be using some source of renewable energy and be a vegetarian by now.

Dear Tomorrow,

I feel optimistic for you, tomorrow. I can feel a shift happening already.
