My dear unborn child,

Climate change is a big topic. You are confronted with it in every situation in life because there were so many things that we did wrong. But not only my generation. Also, the generation before mine. Climate change is real. I know that some people refuse to believe that climate change is real. I think we should do more to stop it and we should talk more about it. In school, at home with the family with your friends, in politics… We all have to know what every single person can take action to stop climate change or to reduce it. If each of us makes his or her contribution, maybe you too will see polar bears and beautiful nature. I hope that I can teach you to deal with these problems, also with such big ones as climate change. I hope I can teach you what is important in life and the future of our planet. I also hope that my generation has done the best thing for solving this big problem. I hope that you and your whole generation will be proud of your parents and that we leave you a world in which you can live without having to worry more than we do. I hope you can live your life and not have to worry about your life.

In love, your mom

More Messages to the Future

Dear friends,

Rather than exploit it, destroy it, poison it, why don’t we just enhance the beauty of it, guard it, and love it?

Dear Josh, LeeAnn, & Jessica,

I am very proud to know that You will treat Our Earth, Our Natural Gift, Our Playful Backyard with the same Awesome Respect that We give to each other, as a Family – Knowing that Our Earth, is Your Child Now.

Dear Grandchildren — August and any others who were born after him

I joined millions of other people who wrote letters and made calls urging our leaders to do more to care for the planet.

Dear Devon and Chloe

I hope that my work helping to make your schools more sustainable will be something you carry on as you grow older.

Dear humankind of today and tomorrow,

I do wish to contribute as much as I can, maybe even start a ripple effect, where other people will start taking action too and inspire other people too.

Dear Annalyse and Greyson,

See people can say they care about climate change, but caring is not action.

Dear Abigail and Olivia,

What stories will you tell them about our generation? Will we be heroes or villains?

Dear Elliott,

We’re moving into uncertain times, and your dad and I worry. A lot. But you’re keeping us going. You’re pushing us to make better choices and not give up.

Dear future me,

I am 19 years old, and I am angry.

To my future children,

It’s not enough to just recycle. I will sign petitions and call my local representatives. I will also engage in conversations about climate change – even with people with whom I don’t see eye-to-eye.

Dear Gabriel,

One day ten or twenty years from now, when you look back from the future, you will be able to clearly see the entire path.

Dear Chay and Kate,

Don’t ever let anyone tell you your actions don’t matter. Every single thing you do matters. You matter.
