dear future society,

Climate change is real and you are now suffering from from its impacts. Because of us, you are faced with the incredible task of mitigating its impacts and saving as many lives and ecosystems as you can. We have known of the disasters climate change would bring but corrupt governments and lobbying around the world triumphed over saving our planet and its future inhabitants.

Projections show that many parts of the world will be under water by 2050. Climate change will alter ecosystems and leave many habitats destroyed. The air we breath will become unsafe and become the leading cause of respiratory illness. These effects are already happening in our current society and I can only imagine how worse it will be in your future society.

What we have won, though, is the incredible will of those who choose to speak up and be a voice for change. More and more people in our current society are becoming more educated on climate change and pushing for laws that will protect our Earth. We are shining a light on the corrupt governments and companies that prioritize profit over the wellbeing of current and future society.

I hope by your year, we will all have progressed and joined together to save our Earth from disaster. I will continue to use my voice to spread awareness and take action against the impacts of climate change and the corrupt groups that influence it. It all starts with YOU.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Future Self,

More than getting through a global pandemic that has already taken hundreds of thousands of lives around the world, our true feat is even larger: to secure our long-term health and the health of the ecosystems upon which we depend for life. To do that, we have to cut our emissions in half in the next ten years, and continue to reduce it beyond that. And to succeed in that, we need to fundamentally shift the way we do EVERYTHING.

To My Dear Children, Jackson Carlo and Stella Jane,

I am a better person because of you, and I want the world to be a better place for you.

Dear son,

Everyone should be grow at least 100 trees in his lifetime.

To my children – Chase, Maya and Harlan

I hope that we manage to change the system really soon, while there is still time. So that you are not left with the mess, and trying to fix something that you didn’t cause. I hope we figured out a way to be kind, and caring for others who will suffer more than us. A way to let go of the greed and look at ways we can help others rather than take from them.

Dear Alba:

There is still a lot of beauty and I will do what I can to keep it from slipping away.

Dear Tomorrow

Colin

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to turn old shirts into produce bags.

To my daughter and son,

Surrounded by scientists who shared my fears and visions, I often had a hard time to accept that outside our small community climate change received marginal attention.

Happy 34th birthday my son.

To laugh at our efforts as they were on such a small scale, too small some would say to make a difference, and then smile when we think about the number families just like ours that did the same thing.

Dear Tomorrow

I promise to educate others TODAY.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to try to set up crowd funding for grants to people with realistic proposals to fight climate change.

Dear Annalyse and Greyson,

See people can say they care about climate change, but caring is not action.
