Dear future self,

it is the year 2022, it is currently earth week, and we are taking the week to appreciate our earth. Sadly, because of global warming, our planet is not doing too well. I am not someone who is majorly connected to nature but growing up I know how important it is to have nature, animals and plants in my life. Even though I have grown up to be someone who is very scared of bugs and things like that, I still love walking in the park to see all the beautiful trees above me and the grass in front of me.

We need to make a change starting now,

whether that is putting your rubbish in the bin instead of throwing it onto the street,

or switching of the light instead of leaving it on when your not in it.

These small changes really make a difference.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Gabriel,

One day ten or twenty years from now, when you look back from the future, you will be able to clearly see the entire path.

Dear Tristan,

I am doing this to protect you, the food, water, air and biodiversity of a country that I love.

Dear loved ones in the future,

Even if it pains me to imagine how things are back home in Puerto Rico at the moment, I know things will flourish again. The land will heal, but we need to help it.

Minhas lindas,

As causas das mudanças no clima são tão profundas e envolvem tanta gente e tantos lugares.

Dear Nieces, Nephews, & Future Children…

If there is any advice I could give you, it is to believe that although you are one single person in this world, you still have the ability to make a difference in this world.

Dear Tomorrow

I promise to reduce my waste production

Queridos amigos sobrevivientes.

Quiero pensar que ustedes serán la diferencia, que tomaran más actos sobre el asunto y no dejaran que nada los detenga.

Dear X—, Dear A—,

As with our struggles to eliminate police brutality, as with hate crimes, so it is with climate change – there are actually a lot of people out there who care.

Dear Nova and Remi,

I wish for you both that another kind of life has been discovered, one of peace, moderation and concern for all life.

Dear Evan,

What has most inspired me to act is wanting to be able to look you in the eye and say, “When I became aware of the existential threat of climate change, I did all I could.”  Despite my pessimism, I act in the hope it can make a difference for future generations and all the precious life on our fragile planet.

Dear Tomorrow,

This is just the beginning. It’s the accrual of little seeds of change that will lead to the tree of revolution.

Dear Potential Future Kiddo,

To think that my choices of sustainable commuting, eating a plant based diet, and working on our City’s zero waste program likely pale in comparison to the impact of not having a baby is nothing short of devastating.  Does it make me a bad environmentalist to honor my maternal instincts?
