POP-UP INSTALLATION

New York Climate Week

New York Climate Week 2025 was a big one for DearTomorrow, as we brought love and care to often-technical climate conversations. We premiered our new traveling pop-up installation at two dynamic venues: The Nest Climate Campus at the Javits Center and the Human Impacts Institute’s Creative Climate Forum at Pier 57.

The Story

Throughout the week, we met hundreds of people working on climate solutions from all angles. Over and over again, we heard just how valuable it was for them to have space to slow down, reflect on their ‘why’, and dream big about the future they want for their loved ones. We gathered hundreds of new letters from participants of all ages and engaged in inspiring conversations about sustaining hope, our responsibility to future generations, and how we can mobilize people around the world.

We also brought the DearTomorrow experience to life through two facilitated sessions – one for philanthropists, reflecting on their important role in this moment. And, another, a workshop for climate practitioners, educators, and those who are climate-curious on how our personal and collective stories can inspire sustained action for a just and thriving world.

The Outcome

Hundreds of visitors engaged with the pop-up installation over the course of the week, contributing personal letters and participating in reflective experiences.

The installation combined immersive design, participatory storytelling, and site-specific workshops to bring the DearTomorrow archive to life in a portable, interactive, and visually striking format. Located within a diverse range of climate-focused initiatives, it offered a calming space for reflection, dialogue, and creative action, making climate futures tangible and personal.

The Impact

The installations created deep engagement with attendees from diverse communities, including climate leaders, artists, educators, students, and members of the public.

Hundreds of participants contributed letters and reflections on the future.

Our workshop sparked discussions on intergenerational responsibility and climate action.

The pop-up installation advanced DearTomorrow’s mission of connecting personal storytelling with global climate awareness.

DearTomorrow now exists in a portable format, ready to travel to communities around the world.

Next Steps

As the DearTomorrow installation travels across the globe, we will continue to help people process complex emotions about climate change and find the emotional fuel for sustained, collective action.
