We didn’t do enough..

I just got married. I am already thinking about what our life will be like. I see other people with babies and of course I want my own but what future would I be able to give them. What kind of future will our environment give them. I see people with 6 or 10 children and think of how selfish they are. Do they not know what we are confronting?! I believe that there should be a limit on how many children people can have. There should have always been a limit. We need to start discussing this.

More Messages to the Future

To my grandchildren,

Ahora vivo en la ciudad de México y cuando debe de llover no llueve… cuando hace calor de verdad hace calor.

Dear residents of Bedminster, Bristol UK,

We hope we did enough

Dear Levon,

I hope, as your father, I’ve done enough to instill within you how science is a wonderful adventure.

Happy 34th birthday my son.

To laugh at our efforts as they were on such a small scale, too small some would say to make a difference, and then smile when we think about the number families just like ours that did the same thing.

Dear future me,

My hopes have always been to live in a brighter and better generation, where women are respected around the world, human rights are respected and last but not least where animals and mother nature is cared for by us individuals.

Dear Abigail and Olivia,

What stories will you tell them about our generation? Will we be heroes or villains?

Dear future generations,

I pledge to you now that I will work tirelessly and with all my willpower so you don’t have to live in a world where you have to worry about the next storm.

Dear AC,

I think a lot about where the right place to live is.

Dear Daughter,

Even when contemplating huge global-historical issues — especially then — it’s important to stay grounded in the present time and place, the specific here and now, and the minute affairs of everyday interpersonal relations.

To My Grandchildren,

It’s my hope that the following will be helpful as you navigate your futures.  These are the confessions of a climate activist:

To my Maria and her children,

I have to tell you something: it is so hard to keep our life “green” for now, but we still keep trying.

To my future Niece,

While I will work my hardest to create any positive change I can, you must continue this quest. You cannot give up hope, and you must always remember that the beauty on this Earth is worth saving.
