To my grandchildren,

Climate change has been a big issue on Earth my entire life. It is year 2020 at the moment and I am 24 years of age and the issue of climate change has been occurring long before I was born as you might know. And due to the amount of inactivity our current government is doing, things will most likely be worse by the time you read this message. With the US no longer following the Paris Climate Agreement and our government being run by oil loving climate change deniers, the prosperity of our once healthy planet is beginning to look like merely a dream.

While the proper insight has been done to determine the possible actions that humans can do to save our planet from global warming, it is another debate entirely if humans will follow through with our discoveries. In California, the transition to electric cars is slowing happening, more and more households are using solar energy, wind turbines are slowly appearing, and meat alternatives such as vegan products are becoming more mainstream which gives signs of hope. But ultimately mitigation is the name of the game during these trying times. And with the increase of wildfires and our ever looming drought that California must deal with, I pledge on taking a bold stand on climate action for the betterment of our great planet Earth and for a better and healthy future for my future kids and grandchildren!

More Messages to the Future

Dear Grown up Alton and Dot,

The most important thing in my life is you, which means that as your mom – I am doing my very best to make sure that when you read this letter, Earth is a cleaner and safer place for you and your children.

Dear People Of The Future,

It’s scary, this is the stuff you see in movies about the end of the world.

Dear Students,

I imagine at this point we have dropped our addiction to coal, gas, and oil and that our environment has made a turn for the better with the solar, wind, and other unimagined (at this point) alternative energy choices are in place.

Dear future Michelle,

As consumers, it is our duty to protest and force companies to be greener and avoid environmental damage, whether they are from the food industry or from any other production industry. It’s about time we start thinking greener.

To my unborn children, hey it’s mummy Cris here!

I am witnessing climate change in a way that I do not like, and I do not know how can I stop it.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to change the culture of my school.

Dear Sadie,

You are young and have a rich future ahead of you. I am retired and aiming for a high quality of cultural life and comfort with whatever time remains to me. I do not want to see a world whose elders sacrifice your future for their short-term needs and personal gain. So it’s up to you and me to speak out.

Dear Spike, Loulou and Yoshua,

I’m going to start a campaign to try to convince everybody in the Netherlands to not eat meat one day a week.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will bring permaculture designs to my community.

Dear Nephew,

I believe i have truly played my part in raising awareness and practical solutions to climate change.

Dear Child,

Hope we get to have that snowball fight I always dreamed we’d have.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to recycle and compost.
