To my future kids,

I hope that by the time you’ve seen this, the people of this planet will have already been actively working together to battle climate change. I hope that the environment you’re living in is one that you can feel safe in, one that doesn’t harm your health or cause you pain. The world I live in today isn’t perfect but I’ve gotten to experience so much of what this planet has to offer, such as being able to go snowboarding in the winters, snorkeling in the ocean overlooking the coral reefs, being able to go on scenic hikes, and so much more. I was able to enjoy all these wonderful outdoor adventures and I hope that your future generation will too. I hope all these activities will still be easily accessible for you, your children, their children and so on. I hope you get to see the world the way it is supposed to be and not what we’ve caused it to be. I will continue to do my part in reducing my carbon footprint because I want to know that you were able to grow up in a safe and healthy Earth.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to stop using a plastic straw.

Dear Tomorrow,

My promise is to continue to dedicate my life, my business, and my future to creating cultures that embrace environmental action not only for our own good, but the good of the countless other species hurting from climate change.

Dear Future Earth,

I promise to promote the growth of clean energy, like solar… For the sake of my grandchildren.

Dear Seamus and Tuva,

So it’s 2050. If the good people are winning the greater struggle, fossil fuels are a shamefully long chapter of the past, and there has been a full scale awakening to the need for only renewable, clean energy.

Dear Tomorrow,

My climate promise is to reduce electricity at home. I will turn off the TV and lights when I’m not in the room.

To My Dear Grandchildren,

Be assured that in the upcoming election, I will cast my vote for your future – for elected officials that recognize climate risks and are willing to promote and vote for legislation that will stop environmental damage and begin to heal our planet.

My darling Cassidy,

I know I need to write this to you, and I don’t want to because it makes me so sad. I have been desperately avoiding my feelings about climate change, for many years, but especially and with greater intensity every year since you were born.

To earth & its inhabitants,

Its been heavy on my shoulders since I found out about the state of climate woes as a child.

Dear Tomorrow,

Love, help and build a future in unison that benefits and protects the whole world.

Dear Future Self,

I am scared of the things happening right now with our planet.

Dear Potential Future Kiddo,

To think that my choices of sustainable commuting, eating a plant based diet, and working on our City’s zero waste program likely pale in comparison to the impact of not having a baby is nothing short of devastating.  Does it make me a bad environmentalist to honor my maternal instincts?

I will recycle stuff I found.
