To My Children and Grandchildren,

Before you read this letter, you might have taken a moment to glance out of a window. You might have seen a shining sun feeding life into plants and small critters jumping around. And this is what I hope you saw, the illusion of my Game. But most likely, as you directed your gaze on the nature outside, you saw clouds covering an orange ball of fire in the sky, with no animals visible, since they had all hidden themselves, just as the plants wished they could. I can only imagine what your Game looks like, but I do know that your chances of winning are millions slimmer than mine were. I can also vividly see the extreme suffering of all those animals species which have been forced under the control of the players. I know this because during my time, I was one of them.

In fact, as every child takes in their first gulp of life, they are entered as another player out of the billions which are already participating. The competitors compete for nothing; just the survival of their planet. Every action taken in the daily lives of the players accounts for either the removal or addition of another block: one red, one green, one black, one white. The simple turning to the left of your bathroom water faucet will have dragged away a white block this morning, at the same time as the two rides you took to and from school today in the school bus this morning added ten red blocks.

Each of these blocks are stepping stones towards the destruction of Earth’s beautiful yet delicate balance. This balance is commanded by the Game which is being played every second of every minute of every day by every being on this planet. From woodlouses which pillage the soil of your backyard to the colossal blue whales of the oceans, all of these creatures are unconscious players of the Game. But as the greatest majority on Earth, these animals have the smallest impact on the Game. And we have the greatest.

The difference between us and the other trillions of players is that we have the potential. Ever since we started becoming aware of the greatness of the ecosystem which has been entrusted to us, it has begun to fall apart. For centuries, the blocks of all collective players have never reached above one point. In the last sixty years, three blocks have become four. And so you ask how can we get rid of all the blocks. The answer is that we cannot. I know this from a philosophy which dates back to ancient Greece, “mass can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only change form”. The buildup of blocks can only be temporarily reconstructed. In one round, a block might be absorbed by a nearby tree; in the second, it could be expelled by a volcano.

As life goes, new players are born and senior contestants disappear. The blocks in the games of those who have relinquished themselves to nature are moved to the current games of other players, an endless accumulation. But, there is one way for blocks to seemingly permanently be removed; this is into the very foundation of Earth. For this momentary miracle to take place, time must be buried as well….until it is dug back up again. In a hideous violation of history, players have been digging up thousands of stored blocks, and even though they understand that this action is destroying their Game, they continue because they are looking for an item of short term fulfillment. This must be stopped. My advice is to prepare yourself for massive change. The Game is adapting itself to its players, more rapidly than ever before. Anticipate, don’t react.

To what we’ve overcome.

The first step would be in overcoming ourselves. Because whether we end up fading into obscurity, or thriving in prosperity, we will overcome ourselves.
