Dear Tomorrow,

Hello world,

In 2020 Earth is experiencing deforestation, rising sea-levels, changes in precipitation patterns leading to vast floods, hot summers leading to droughts, ice decay in the Arctic, pollution in the atmosphere, loss of natural habitats, and more. Due to human activities from big industrial agriculture, burning fossil fuels, releasing methane in the atmosphere, single used plastic, oil spills, and more.

I am hoping for 2100 there is restrictions on agriculture industries, leading to changes in people’s diets. Therefore, instead of big fast food chains there will be more plant based food choices. Hydroponic farming is also something beneficial I hope to see in the future, by doing this we can stop deforestation and rehabilitate habitats and endangered species. This will help cut carbon emissions substantially leading to controlled temperatures. Another hope for the future world is a more energy conscious world using renewable energy from wind and solar power energy resources. This will also eliminate carbon emissions from affecting the atmosphere. Instead of relying on oil, we will use renewable energy sources for our everyday lives, such as electric operated cars. Another thing I hope to see is carbon taxes on major industrial companies to help sustain minimal pollution in the air. Also eliminating one use plastic and creating decomposing packaging to help keep our oceans clean. I am also hoping to see the use of oil gone, to help prevent oil spills from damaging oceans and coral reefs. By making these changes it will lead to controlled temperatures and more natural seasons. Leading no abnormal ice decay and preventing sea levels rising and coral reefs will not be ruined from increased temperatures/oil spills, and earth will restore.

More Messages to the Future

Querida Alê,

Por você idealizei um mundo melhor e lutei incessantemente por ele.

Hi buddy,

I can now see that the solutions are there, that a transition of the magnitude that is needed, is possible.

Dear Future Kids Like Me,

What I hope for future kids like me is that they continue to ride the groundswell of climate change support all the way into action.

Dear Nova and Remi,

I wish for you both that another kind of life has been discovered, one of peace, moderation and concern for all life.

To my darling ones,

And it’s not that I don’t care. I care deeply. For you three, and the families I hope you will have one day; for the many beautiful places I have had the privilege to know, places which take my breath away, that fill my heart with a bursting joy and connectedness to something so much greater than I, places I know may be quite different when you are my age

I promise to take shorter showers.

Dear Abigail and Olivia,

What stories will you tell them about our generation? Will we be heroes or villains?

To my Beloved Future Children,

Be fearless – do not be afraid to talk to each other and do not be afraid to fail.

Dear future self,

I am writing this to keep myself accountable and push myself towards taking action towards a sustainable future. I hope children of the future can still appreciate the wonders that nature and all its beings have to offer, appreciate the beauty in the world around us.

To my beloved granddaughters, Margaret and Caroline,

Growing up in Germany, I often wondered what my parents had done to oppose the Nazi regime in the 1930’s that led to WWII.  I was so disappointed when I found out how passive they had been. For me, this was formative.

Dear future Child or Grandchild,

Climate is undeniably changing but it is not top priority.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to contact my local officials on passing measures against climate change
