Dear Nephew,

I want to do everything I can for you to have the best life. With saying that, I am going to start doing better to have a healthier planet for you to live on. I am going to recycle more than I already do. Make sure to turn off lights or unplug the devices I am not using at the moment. Go paper-free with documents I am able to do that with. I promise to do all things plus more because I can’t let something that I do, affect you.

There is still a lot of beauty and I will do what I can to keep it from slipping away.

Dear Matthew, Sam, and Sophie,

There is a promise in the Bible: ‘I shall restore the years that the locusts have eaten’ and that points to a promise of complete healing and restoration. But until that comes I intend to do my best to ‘save the planet’ in whatever way I can, and I encourage you to do the same.

Dear Ellie,

My heart is an ocean of love for all the children facing a life of climate catastrophe.

To my grandchildren,

Ahora vivo en la ciudad de México y cuando debe de llover no llueve… cuando hace calor de verdad hace calor.

Dear Tomorrow,

I have solar and will be getting an electric car next week

Dear Tomorrow,

Vitória,

Antes de realizar qualquer ação pense no meio ambiente para que suas atitudes sejam pautadas na sustentabilidade. Assim o seu pensar e agir localmente poderão resvalar na escala global.

To my beloved granddaughters, Margaret and Caroline,

Growing up in Germany, I often wondered what my parents had done to oppose the Nazi regime in the 1930’s that led to WWII.  I was so disappointed when I found out how passive they had been. For me, this was formative.

Dear Emile and Eloise,

The beauty and majesty of the world of your childhood is as remarkable as the beauty and majesty of mine, but the fragility of your childhood world is so much greater.
