Dear my beloved children,

I am so glad that in 2022 we decided to take your future seriously. I love you so much and watching you as kids really made me sad and worried about how the future would look for you. I, along with other caring adults, decided to act. We did what we could through schools, lobbying government, having tough conversations with resistant family members about our fears and hopes for you. Because you were and are so brilliant and beautiful, you kept us inspired and kept us going — even when things felt tough.
As I head into the twilight years of my life, I can rest knowing you have a beautiful and vibrant world where you can be well, others can be well, the planet is well, and your kids and their kids can have a sustainable and beautiful future.

I would do anything for you. I love you so so much,

Your mame

More Messages to the Future

Dear Future Afnan,

You should make a time machine and come back to past and solve all the problems.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to only use metal straws and reusable cups.

Our Shared Promise

I will act today so you may have a healthy earth to live on.

Dear Kids,

I know it’s long past time to wake up. You deserve a future in which drought, famine, and war are not all your children ever know; the choices my generation makes now will determine your future.

Dear Jackson,

I feel deeply that it is my moral obligation as your Mom to protect your future and allow you to inherit a clean and healthy planet.

Dear Birds,

will continue championing land preservation and the restoration of woodland, prairie and wetland habitats. I will not stop advocating for “bird friendly” legislation to make cities safer for your passage.

Dear tomorrow,

If there’s one thing young people have learned while quarantining, it’s that Gen Z holds so much power and is capable of a lot more than we think. We’ve created a community that has united us all and started to bring about change for the good of our futures. Now, with the help of Gen Z (and of course, people of all ages), we have the power to save our home, the Earth.

To my child,

For the pale blue dot we live on, a precious beauty, I try to help.

To My Future Children,

I hope by 2050, our society has taken initiative to be producing energy solely through renewable sources.

To my brother’s children,

We wondered about how we might be able to eliminate plastics from our day to day routines, and recycled literally everything. We were amazing, you should have seen us. Now and again though, we wondered if these were the right questions.

I promise to help people! Become more aware!
