Dear Maggie and Lily,

I hope you know how much you girls mean to me. There is nothing else that has made me prouder so far in life than to be your aunt. I take my role very seriously and am always aiming to show you the best now and do my part to make sure you have the same opportunities, if not more. Knowing you love me is what keeps me going sometimes and reminds me why we can’t just think of our peers but the generations of potential that follows our own.

The environment all around us could be in danger. I don’t ever want you to imagine a world where it is not safe to go to the park or to beg me for a beach day. I want you to always fearlessly swim in water free of pollution and debris. I love walking the beach looking for sea glass with you and it’s important that we preserve these memories and environments so we can continue to enjoy these things that matter most to us.

I know you girls are smart. I expect you to be leaders wherever life takes you. I look to you for advice more than I want to admit. But I do so because I believe in you. I’m excited to see who you become because every moment we spend together I see growth and personality in both of you. You make me proud to be your aunt and I’m confident the future holds good things for us all together.

Your mother is my very best friend and I promise to do anything within my power to give you all I can. I promise you that as you grow up into teenagers and then adults we will always be best friends. That means that we support each other and learn from each other when it comes to carrying out a life that makes us all happy. There is no better feeling than when you tell me you love me and I will never stop trying to give you the world.
