Dear grandchildren,

You were not born yet, but I’m very concerned about your future. Not just yours, but all our future generations. I’m so proud of you because if you are learning this letter it’s because you are interested in your future and the future of our planet. Unfortunately, now we don’t know how to deal with consumerism. Our planet has been suffering the consequences of our material wills. It’s a shame to see how the human race can do such bad things to have what they want.

So, please love one another. Do not do to others what you wouldn’t like being done with you. If every person in this world could understand this principle, wars, pandemics, poverty, and famine, wouldn’t exist. We are one race, the human race; there is no difference between us. Cultivate a sound mind and do not leave room for bad thoughts. Be careful, everything you sow one day you will reap, whether good or bad.

Now I’m teaching your mom, so she could teach you about these things one day. You are not too small, you can do great things! The creation has a plan for you, a huge purpose. You can make a difference wherever you go! Be brave and kind!

More Messages to the Future

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to put in a rain catcher tank.

Dear Nolan, Patrick, Cullen and Gabriel,

This Mother’s Day I am again thinking of my grandsons future and what I am doing to change the world if only by a small fraction.

Chers Enfants,

Chers Enfants,

Caro Giovanni,

Dobbiamo aiutare nel conservare il bello che c’è nel nostro pianeta.

Dear Annie and Eric,

I hope that this life of good things is not just yours to enjoy, but that you also have decided to fight for others to have this life, too.

Filha,

Saiba que enquanto eu tiver vida, minha voz não calará para alertar o mal que estamos fazendo agora para as nossas gerações futuras…

Dear Nieces and Nephews,

I tried.

Dear future child,

We’re presenting at conferences, writing articles, and organizing events with the goal of mobilizing our profession to act on climate, and to help them understand that it will deeply impact our mission to preserve history for future generations.

Dear Future,

“I knew you would want to know how the future turned out. You got so anxious about climate change as we grew older.  By coming back, I thought I could help you with that.”

Dear future self,

I am writing this to keep myself accountable and push myself towards taking action towards a sustainable future. I hope children of the future can still appreciate the wonders that nature and all its beings have to offer, appreciate the beauty in the world around us.

Querida Emanoely,

Gostaria que você se lembrasse das lições simples que mamãe e papai te ensinou, como cuidar das plantas e dos espaços coletivos.

Dear Tomorrow

I will become the change I wish to see in the world.
