Dear Future Tomorrow,

I hope you never loose focus on what is important… the land, air and water we survive off of. I hope you fight for what is right and realize that there will be no money or business if we do to protect the earth and land we live on. I hope you don’t forget about the animals, planets and the circle of life and how we are all connected. I hope you make a difference, stand together and don’t believe that someone else will save the planet. It takes more than ONE person and it begins with YOU and what YOU want to see change. I hope you make a difference and kept it. I am optimistic about the future because of you, and It all starts with YOUR questions, so think long and think hard.

One Love and mine,

Krystal Shephard

More Messages to the Future

Loved One,

That we all have a role to play no matter how small, we all can make a difference.

Filhota,

Espero de verdade saber contribuir para legá-la inteira para você, e que todos saibamos fazer isso em conjunto também.

My Mini & Lou,

Since I first sat down with these words, a pandemic has erupted. Racial violence is reaching a fever pitch and protests are raging across the nation. It feels like the planet is succumbing to entropy, slipping further into chaos. But I write to you from a time of shifting tides.

To all the people here on earth,

Who knows what the future would look like? or what will happened in the future? No one knows right? That’s why it it’s scary because we don’t know what lies ahead. We couldn’t stop the future but we can always change it.

Dear Indigenous Persons with Disabilities,

Dear Indigenous Persons with Disabilities,

Dear Makena,

Sweetie, you deserve clean air, water and soil. You deserve to thrive in an environment that supports you.

To My Grandchildren,

It’s my hope that the following will be helpful as you navigate your futures.  These are the confessions of a climate activist:

Dear Kids,

I know it’s long past time to wake up. You deserve a future in which drought, famine, and war are not all your children ever know; the choices my generation makes now will determine your future.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will do whatever I can to protect and preserve mother Earth for future generations.

Dear Nuriel, Eliran, and Rotem,

Sometimes I think we will never make it, but I know we must keep trying.

Dear Tara,

Each of us only has so much power and the problem is HUGE, but I worked at this every day.

Dear Tomorrow,

I’m not allowed to talk about climate change around family; as my mom warned me, “climate change is not something that people think about in Mississippi.” But I’m worried for my family’s future.
