Dear Future Students,

I hope that you are taking action to help preserve the Earth and all the magnificent species and processes that reside on and within it. I hope as your former educator, I shared with you the importance of protecting the Earth and crafted methods of action that both you and I can chose to act on together. You have a voice and your voice matters. You are the ones that will make the change, as my generation was and is still fighting for the Earth. I hope you will spread the education and knowledge you have with others that are unfamiliar with the topic of climate change. Education is key. Remember that.

Dear Kids,

My mistake was thinking I needed to give you more to be a good Mom. Recently your aunt asked me what my favorite toy was growing up. I gulped, I didn’t have one- it was the outdoors, sliding down a ravine of leaves with my Dad, skiing and camping. Today is October 12th, 2021 and I am still going to be giving you a lot, it’s going to look a little different – love, experiences, education and a healthy planet.

You are so small. So innocent. So beautiful. For you and for everyone else, I will try harder.

If we could talk, I would not be able to bear your gaze as you ask: How could you, the people in a position to change the course of climate change, fail to act?

Devemos conservar nosso planeta. Mas, para se fazer isso, temos que fazer isso juntos. Todos os seres humanos devem estar voltados para cuidar bem do lar em que vivemos e do presente que Deus nos deu para viver: a Terra.

For my children,

If we haven’t done enough and the world you’re living on is apocalyptic or if you’re living on another planet then I’m deeply sorry and just know that I believe in you and I know that you are both strong and smart enough to handle anything.
 

Dear future generations,

It’s never too late to make a difference. Our actions have very real consequences. We can educate ourselves, learn from our mistakes, and take action. We can hold companies like big oil and big plastic accountable for their negative impacts on the environment. We can educate ourselves and others about what causes climate change and what actions we as individuals can take to lower our carbon footprints.
