Dear Future Self,

I promise to continue the recycling habits that I have picked up during this past year (2018) and that I will continue to learn about ways to help the environment so I can implement them to my life. I will also continue to save energy by turning off my lights when they are not in use and saving water by taking shorter showers. No matter where I live I will take it upon myself to keep as much waste out of the landfill by recycling. I will increase my support towards companies which are more environmentally friendly even if it means it costs more. Although this is hard for me I promise I will start to consume more chicken rather than red meat but also more vegetable since they are less harsh on our environment. Last but not least I will teach others around me about recycling and how to make our earth a better place.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Kai and Leah,

I want you to feel awestruck like I do. It is important to feel small sometimes, to feel the weight of reality, to recognize the scale of a challenge, to see where you fit and what you are up against. This is the case with climate change.

Dear future self,

I hope that you are living in a world that is better than what it is now.

To my future children,

It’s not enough to just recycle. I will sign petitions and call my local representatives. I will also engage in conversations about climate change – even with people with whom I don’t see eye-to-eye.

Dear Before The Flood team,

We can all be aware and sensitized to the problem, so that we are ready to embrace the solutions that will come our way. In doing so, we can all be part of the solution.

Dear Future Generations,

Finally, I hope nobody is being judged by the color their skin, sexual orientation or religion but by judged by the content of their character.

My dearest Paloma Bear,

I want the very best for you and for generations to come. There is only one planet earth. Your mommy and I will make a genuine effort to make an impact to protect it for you.

To the future generation:

No voice is too small to be heard. Every action counts.

Dear Eleanor,

It seems silly to saddle yourself with guilt for something that hasn’t happened yet. I don’t want to do that. As of today, I don’t really feel guilty. I guess I just want to make sure I keep doing more, so that when you read this, and ask what I’ve done since then, I can still feel good about my efforts.

To My Daughter and Future Grandchildren,

There are so many more things that we can do together to help our Earth from the damage that has been done, and I am so excited to teach you.

Dear Future Generation,

I promise to recycle more and reduce my carbon footprint by buying local and choosing smarter options to get around from place to place.

Dear Future Generations and future grandchildren,

The little things can make a big difference.

To my Grandchildren,

May you thrive, enjoy and, when ready, take on the mantle we entrust to you to carry forward for your grandchildren and all the world’s children.
