Dear Future Self,

I promise to continue the recycling habits that I have picked up during this past year (2018) and that I will continue to learn about ways to help the environment so I can implement them to my life. I will also continue to save energy by turning off my lights when they are not in use and saving water by taking shorter showers. No matter where I live I will take it upon myself to keep as much waste out of the landfill by recycling. I will increase my support towards companies which are more environmentally friendly even if it means it costs more. Although this is hard for me I promise I will start to consume more chicken rather than red meat but also more vegetable since they are less harsh on our environment. Last but not least I will teach others around me about recycling and how to make our earth a better place.

More Messages to the Future

To My Fellow Two-Spirits,

Thank you — Thank you — without you, I would not hear butterflies singing, without you, I would not understand black bear humor, or the creativity of jays planning their breakfast, without you, I would not feel flora whispers of long-lived wisdom on the back of my neck while sitting in Padmasana.

Future Message to Earth,

Hope there will be no more droughts,
And no more pollution with which we fought,
Regarding every human should be taught,
Ensuring that we uniformly follow these thoughts.

Dear future generations,

I pledge to you now that I will work tirelessly and with all my willpower so you don’t have to live in a world where you have to worry about the next storm.

Dear Future Self,

It was 2020, the year I realized that life is fragile—not just mine, but the entire planet—through immense consumption, pollution, greediness, ignorance, false bliss. This wasn’t the way I wanted to live my life, so I promise to actively make the change.

Dear Nieces, Nephews, & Future Children…

If there is any advice I could give you, it is to believe that although you are one single person in this world, you still have the ability to make a difference in this world.

Dear Child,

Hope we get to have that snowball fight I always dreamed we’d have.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to ditch all the natural gas and go all electric with my home!

Dear Tomorrow,

I haven’t met you yet, but I already know you deserve a better tomorrow.

To My Friends, Family and Future Grandchildren,

I realize my reflection of the past, current and future state of the environment paints a grim and pessimistic picture, but I feel optimistic in our ability to turn planet Earth’s fate around if we all work together and commit to making a change.

Dear Future Grandchildren,

I hope I can look you in the eye and tell you I honestly did everything I could to protect our planet.

Dear Leo,

Last week I took you to protest the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Dear Ellis,

So, dear heart, I am doing everything I can as the situation worsens.
