Dear Future Self,

We are in the year of 2020 and unfortunately the world has gone through many hardships. To start off, we’ve been experiencing the pandemic of COVID-19. There has also been many extreme weather events such as hurricanes, droughts, and fires. The situations that we are currently living in has caused a lot of stress and has impacted many people’s lives globally. It seems that climate change hasn’t gotten any better and may potentially get worse by the year of 2050. This appears to be happening because people in power don’t seem to understand and deny that climate change isn’t real. This has influenced many people in our society to think the same way. Instead of trying to create positive changes for our climate, people prefer to annoy it. This is heartbreaking and I really hope that by 2050, real change is made. I hope people in power are willing to understand that climate change is real and come up with plans to decrease the effect of it. I also hope that people in our society contributes as well. I’d like for our next generations to live a better life.

More Messages to the Future

Dear residents of Bedminster, Bristol UK,

We hope we did enough

Dear little one,

In the coming months, we plan to complete a full assessment of our environmental impact online. We hope to discover our biggest areas of resource consumption, learn what we can do better, and create an action plan to improve over the next year.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will eat vegan, organic, locally grown, and seasonal.

Dear tomorrow,

If there’s one thing young people have learned while quarantining, it’s that Gen Z holds so much power and is capable of a lot more than we think. We’ve created a community that has united us all and started to bring about change for the good of our futures. Now, with the help of Gen Z (and of course, people of all ages), we have the power to save our home, the Earth.

Dear My Future Child,

I want to sculpt a world for you where you can play outside without gas masks, an ocean to swim in without toxins, and a thick lively forest for you to wander.

dear earth,

I promise those who walked the Earth before me and those who will walk the Earth after me that I will not stand by and let nature slip through my fingers.

My dear Honeys,

I think every parent believes that their child’s future is worth protecting – because I know the power of this force in me and what I am willing to do.

Dear You Tomorrow,

What we failed to do, at least early on, was to see how important it was to put those solutions together. To combine into a way forward.

Dear A and C,

You are growing up in a time of immense change. In the last two years alone, we’ve learned so much about big and important issues including climate change and the systemic racism that runs through our institutions.

Dear Lillyana,

I will continue to work to make the Earth a cleaner and safer place for you to grow and explore.

Dear Lincoln,

I wanted to let you know that in 2019 that there were real struggles with the health of our planet.

For a child I am yet to know,

We are fighting for a shared cause, inspired by our strong and unwavering dedication to preserve the beauty and wonder of our natural world for our children, our grandchildren and their children, and for countless generations to come.
