Dear Future Self,

I hope that you have done all that you can to help the environment. Even little things like reducing plastic use can help a lot. The problem is a lot of people do not understand how bad plastic pollution is. Help others who do not understand. Another thing you can do is walking instead of driving as much as you can to reduce gas pollution. All you have to do is make sure you are helping the environment, not hurting it.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Maya, Emilio and Daniel,

We thought that the world was an endless supply of whatever we wanted… I know it sounds hard to believe, but that is the way it was.

Oi Luc,

Estou esperando ansiosa sua chegada pra que a gente possa fazer muitas coisas boas juntos, uma delas, é cuidar bem do nosso planeta.

Dear Nieces and Nephews,

I tried.

A love letter to my son

I hope this year is a real turning point and by the time you’re a teenager, your life is powered almost entirely by clean energy like solar and wind.

Dear Tomorrow,

I am so sorry we didn’t realize this predicament sooner.

To my Maria and her children,

I have to tell you something: it is so hard to keep our life “green” for now, but we still keep trying.

Dear Tomorrow,

I’m not allowed to talk about climate change around family; as my mom warned me, “climate change is not something that people think about in Mississippi.” But I’m worried for my family’s future.

To my children,

I hope that the fervor that is building continues to build and spread and that the world has made progress to minimize the effects of our past actions.

Dear Chay and Kate,

Don’t ever let anyone tell you your actions don’t matter. Every single thing you do matters. You matter.

Dear Hailey and Lily,

We know about this. If we don’t fix this for you, it’s our fault.

Dear Hannah, Harper and future baby of Ryan and Colleen Lane,

I will not stop fighting for a more sustainable future, your future.

Dear Alyssa,

I pray that more and more fathers will realize that to love their children well, they have to love and respect the ecological systems around them too.
