Dear future self,

Hello dev,

I hope you are still doing okay out into whatever year you get this letter. Right now we are in our first year of college, we are still with Dom and we are a little unsure about the future. But that is not important right now, I just promise I will help so the world you know is better. The climate is changing and life is getting scary but I will make a promise to try to help out when I can. I am a bit lazy right now and slow to make huge changes in my life but I promise once I get a better mental state, I will work so hard for you. Not only will I work hard for your future, more importantly for the kids I plan to have. I hope when you get this you are raising beautiful children with Dom. I want a better world for them more than anything. I promise to live sustainably  and take care of myself and the planet to the best of my ability.

love,

Devin from 2019

More Messages to the Future

Dear Tomorrow,

And, if this summer has taught me anything, I am content (because I have to be) living in this limbo, this seemingly endless waiting for the opportunity to change, when really the opportunity exists within our very selves all along.

Dear Jack,

Right now you are only a little over 5 weeks old, but you have truly changed my whole world. Your Mom and I always say that we thought we loved before you were born, but now that you have come into the world and we met you, our ability to love just expanded exponentially.

Dear Me,

Today, I promise to keep my spaces clean and my environment cleaner.

Dear Emile and Eloise,

The beauty and majesty of the world of your childhood is as remarkable as the beauty and majesty of mine, but the fragility of your childhood world is so much greater.

Dear fellow human,

May my tomorrow include more attention to these details so that you know that I do care.

Dear Tomorrow,

Don’t use plastic straws!

Dear… Parents,

Let us teach our children to volunteer and donate.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to go to the farmer’s market more

My darling Cassidy,

I know I need to write this to you, and I don’t want to because it makes me so sad. I have been desperately avoiding my feelings about climate change, for many years, but especially and with greater intensity every year since you were born.

A love letter to my son

I hope this year is a real turning point and by the time you’re a teenager, your life is powered almost entirely by clean energy like solar and wind.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to only use metal straws and reusable cups.

Dear Tomorrow,

I will do my part to help ensure that there is an Earth left when we are done borrowing it.
