dear future self,

I hope this reaches you by about 2050. Honestly, there is a chance that climate change got really bad and you can never get back on this website, or that you died. But I doubt that. If you are still kicking I hope for you that the world is still functioning somewhat normally. I hope you are taking a shower once a week, I hope you are still having to replace AA batteries, and I really hope that you are paying taxes with paper money. I hope that at this point either climate change has been solved or everyone has given up on it. 30 years of hoping is a life wasted.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Chay and Kate,

Don’t ever let anyone tell you your actions don’t matter. Every single thing you do matters. You matter.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to ask five of my friends to plant trees.

Dear Me of Tomorrow,

I plan to plant more things this spring, as we do every year in our garden.

Dear future self,

I am writing this to keep myself accountable and push myself towards taking action towards a sustainable future. I hope children of the future can still appreciate the wonders that nature and all its beings have to offer, appreciate the beauty in the world around us.

dear future children,

As I write this, our world is slowly giving way to climate change.

Dear Tomorrow

I promise to educate others TODAY.

Dear Daughter,

Tonight at bedtime, you asked, seemingly out of nowhere, “why are the glaciers disappearing?”

To my grandchildren’s children,

I became an activist to be part of a force to save the natural world and go 100% clean energy.

To the future generations,

I hope that you all can enjoy the Smokey Mountains in your lifetime too and that they look how they did back in 2017 when I saw them.

Queridas filhas Ana Luísa e Ana Carla,

Que vocês possam contar para seus filhos e netos que minha geração tomou consciência de sua responsabilidade e assumiu sua condição de natureza e a ela se reintegrou, com inteligência, interação respeitosa e solidariedade.

To my future children,

It’s not enough to just recycle. I will sign petitions and call my local representatives. I will also engage in conversations about climate change – even with people with whom I don’t see eye-to-eye.

Dear fantastic,

We as the human race are smarter than this struggle at hand and need to rise above large corporate interests and confusion on this topic.
