Dear future people,

Well. We messed up, didn’t we? Humanity. Currently, we’re in the process of completely ruining the only place we have to call home. Yay us? Luckily, at the time this is being written, many people are starting to wake up and try to do something about this mess we’ve all collectively created. People are using less plastic, using less fossil fuels to school and work, and other such things. I am now and will be lowering my waste and fossil fuel consumption. Unfortunately, due to the extreme negligence of the people before us, we’re still not on the right track. So, I’m going to work harder. Raise awareness, protests, and hopefully fix this mess before it’s too late. And on behalf of everyone, I’m sorry. If we fail. If we don’t fix this, and you never get to see polar bears, or arctic ice caps, or trash-less beaches. We’re sorry.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Spike, Loulou and Yoshua,

I’m going to start a campaign to try to convince everybody in the Netherlands to not eat meat one day a week.

Dear Tomorrow,

My climate promise is to stop using electricity too much.

Querida Futuro Yo,

Quiero que puedas decirme que lo hemos logrado, y que el mundo hoy es un poquito mejor porque nosotras pusimos de nuestra parte.

I promise to take shorter showers.

A love letter to my son

I hope this year is a real turning point and by the time you’re a teenager, your life is powered almost entirely by clean energy like solar and wind.

Dear Tomorrow,

I’m not allowed to talk about climate change around family; as my mom warned me, “climate change is not something that people think about in Mississippi.” But I’m worried for my family’s future.

Dear Tomorrow,

I am so sorry we didn’t realize this predicament sooner.

To my grandchildren’s children,

I became an activist to be part of a force to save the natural world and go 100% clean energy.

Dear Future,

“I knew you would want to know how the future turned out. You got so anxious about climate change as we grew older.  By coming back, I thought I could help you with that.”

Dear Maddie,

Please know that I have tried very hard to be one of those people, to even make the smallest of changes in order to improve the world for you and your future.

To my brother’s children,

We wondered about how we might be able to eliminate plastics from our day to day routines, and recycled literally everything. We were amazing, you should have seen us. Now and again though, we wondered if these were the right questions.

Dear Future Generations,

I promise to make as many changes to my life as possible to make yours as great as mine.
