Dear Future Me (myself & my children),

Ah it is 2021.. 2020 was a very very very rough year for the world, our vulnerable communities, and personally I went through a lot as well. You see I pretty much fit under all that were impacted by past events. 2020 a lot happened, racial injustice was everywhere. Although it has always been, this time the world talked about it. You see personally I went through a lot bc I was suffering from intense headaches that I have self-diagnosed as a response to the evils of the world that have created vulnerable people. What do I mean? We live in a capitalist society where it is very hard to prioritize Mother Nature & our well being…its difficult to serve our communities while taking care of ourselves & it should not be this way. I have hope that the future generations will rise against the world’s human made structures that have led to where we are now..we don’t have to live this way! I know I have hope bc I believe I am doing my best to serve our communities while practicing self care to prepare myself to also serve the next generation (my children & their neighbors) to build a sustainable & just world. I want my children to know that life will not be easy..it was not for our ancestors. The privilege we will be living (bc I am committed to building a safe space for us all) will be a response to the work of our ancestors. Many have dreamt about living comfortably ..I know that is my dream. I hope that by 2050 I will be happy with the time I’ve been given in this beautiful world..I hope that I can make this space for you all as well. I want us all to live at peace with our environments & the people in our spaces. Thank you. Wait lol If you don’t have children I want you to know that is ok! I just hope you find peace within yourself & everyone in your life in 20..?

More Messages to the Future

To my daughter,

The climate is quite dynamic these days. Dhaka has dust and warm in this spring.

dear future children,

As I write this, our world is slowly giving way to climate change.

To My Fellow Two-Spirits,

Thank you — Thank you — without you, I would not hear butterflies singing, without you, I would not understand black bear humor, or the creativity of jays planning their breakfast, without you, I would not feel flora whispers of long-lived wisdom on the back of my neck while sitting in Padmasana.

Dear Birds,

will continue championing land preservation and the restoration of woodland, prairie and wetland habitats. I will not stop advocating for “bird friendly” legislation to make cities safer for your passage.

Dear Erica and Matthew,

I want you to be able to bring your kids to Tahoe and experience the same clarity that you had as a child.

Fe,

As one push of a button can set a spinner in motion, so too can the actions of one in creating a world that allows you to thrive, to giggle, to love.

Dear Students,

My act of love will be to use all the power I have, during the rest of my life, to stop climate change.

Caro Giovanni,

Dobbiamo aiutare nel conservare il bello che c’è nel nostro pianeta.

Dear Me,

Today, I promise to keep my spaces clean and my environment cleaner.

Dear Logan,

I am working every second of my life, with every ounce of my being, to ensure that I am leaving you and your brother a planet that is safe and secure.

Dear little one,

In the coming months, we plan to complete a full assessment of our environmental impact online. We hope to discover our biggest areas of resource consumption, learn what we can do better, and create an action plan to improve over the next year.

To the future generations,

I hope that you all can enjoy the Smokey Mountains in your lifetime too and that they look how they did back in 2017 when I saw them.
