Dear Future Earth,

I look at you and thank you for all that you offer me. I look at the sky and the ocean and think about the endlessness that’s behind it. I think about the great memories I’ve experienced living on you. Living on a planet with miles and miles of new land, new cultures, new people, and new inventions is a gift that many people seem to take advantage of. Many look at you and destroy you in a heartbeat, but I look at you and take it all in and breathe you in. The way your rivers run and how your waves crash on the sand, the sound of raindrops hitting the concrete and the after smell it brings the air, the forests that seem to be endless and dark at night and the way you bring happiness to everyone when you shine bright with green hills and cool winds that blow through in the summer. I thank you for all the beauty you bring and I wish for you to stay this way for eternity. I hope future generations take care of you and look at you the way I look at you. Don’t leave us, don’t die out because of global warming, don’t turn brown because of droughts, don’t crumble because of earthquakes, don’t drown because of tsunamis and don’t be heartbroken when people hate you because they’re only mad at themselves. Take all your beauty and make it better where people look at you and smile, smile because they’re grateful they live on a beautiful planet like you. Dear future generations, take care of the earth, she’s one of a kind.

More Messages to the Future

Loved One,

That we all have a role to play no matter how small, we all can make a difference.

For my most dear and only daughter,

And I know life more fully because of you whom I live on through.

Hey Kiddos!

My hope for you is that all our legislative efforts and care for the environment makes a difference so that we can wipe asthma out of our family.

My dear Honeys,

I think every parent believes that their child’s future is worth protecting – because I know the power of this force in me and what I am willing to do.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to recycle and compost.

Dear old dude Mårten,

I know that the 2019 version of me (today that is) wished and hoped for that I did all within my power to turn the world around without loosing sight on the beauty of being alive.

Hey kiddo,

I’ll be here to tell you all the ways I have fought for the health of our home, and fought to protect all of the wide, open spaces for you to run in. When you’re old enough, we can fight together.

Dear You Tomorrow,

What we failed to do, at least early on, was to see how important it was to put those solutions together. To combine into a way forward.

Dear Kids,

I know it’s long past time to wake up. You deserve a future in which drought, famine, and war are not all your children ever know; the choices my generation makes now will determine your future.

Dear Kids of the Future,

My wish for all of you is that the people of the present wake up and are able to change their habits.

Dear Seamus and Tuva,

So it’s 2050. If the good people are winning the greater struggle, fossil fuels are a shamefully long chapter of the past, and there has been a full scale awakening to the need for only renewable, clean energy.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to include the trees and animals in all my decisions.
