Dear future children of all ages,

The modern day era I live in, 2018, is an amazing and scary time in terms of gun rights, social media privacy, and politics.

In 2018, the same issues have been reoccurring, however, there’s has been little reform or effective actions to reduce shootings while maintaining the 2nd amendment which is the right to bear arms. The main reason behind this is there are a lot of myths and yet no one area where the actual facts and evidence can be seen to the public in a sense where it is easily to accessible to read and understand. If people can listen to the actual facts without all these myths and the influence of politics, then government and the public can address these issues with effective solutions where everyone is happy.

Another issue are the common people’s rights to privacy on social media companies such as Facebook and Instagram. There needs to be better transparent communication between the public and companies about what data can be used if any with consent of that specific individual.

The biggest issue at hand is how heavily and deeply invested are politics are in sensitive issues such as gun rights and consumer privacy. There should be clearer regulations and laws where politics can enter certain issues because that usually clouds judgement and creates bias, hence, conflict which leads to no solutions.

To the future generation of kids, speak up and protest again things that you find unfair and unjust. The next generation of kids have so many tools to voice their opinions such as social media platforms, protesting, and just know it only takes one to make a difference. Voice your opinions so we do not have to deal with the same issues in 20, 30, or 50 years.

More Messages to the Future

My grandchildren,

I promise to do my very best to educate your parents as best I can.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will convince my family to switch their gas appliances to electric.

To my brother’s children,

We wondered about how we might be able to eliminate plastics from our day to day routines, and recycled literally everything. We were amazing, you should have seen us. Now and again though, we wondered if these were the right questions.

Dear Nieces, Nephews, & Future Children…

If there is any advice I could give you, it is to believe that although you are one single person in this world, you still have the ability to make a difference in this world.

Dear Tomorrow

Stay Cool and Save the Whales

Dear Students,

I imagine at this point we have dropped our addiction to coal, gas, and oil and that our environment has made a turn for the better with the solar, wind, and other unimagined (at this point) alternative energy choices are in place.

I won’t leave my lights on.

Dear next generation,

Please don’t wait to see the adverse effects instead adopt that river, stream, lake or ocean to make the world a better place.

Dear Future Me: Only open after March 4th, 2050

I don’t regret my past ventures, nor do I believe I will regret my future ventures, but I’ve learned that I’ve needed to manifest these experiences into actions of sustainable development and conservation and protection of our environment.

Dear Evan,

What has most inspired me to act is wanting to be able to look you in the eye and say, “When I became aware of the existential threat of climate change, I did all I could.”  Despite my pessimism, I act in the hope it can make a difference for future generations and all the precious life on our fragile planet.

Dear Yasmine,

I tried to teach you of the importance of being satisfied with what you had within your hands.

Our Shared Promise

I will act today so you may have a healthy earth to live on.
