Dear Future Children & Grandchildren,

The world now, in 2016, is facing this huge problem of climate change. I hope you have only read of this term in history/geography book of the past. Ice caps melting in the Arctic, deforestation in Indonesia, and flooding in coastal areas are the result of global warming.  I really want to make a change in the world and fight for the use of consumption of no fossil fuels and using clean energy instead. First, to make a change in my daily life and in the bigger picture, to encourage the people around me and ultimately the world to contribute to fight for the elimination of global warming. To save Mother Earth and you, the future generations of this beautiful planet.

Love,
Claire Goh

More Messages to the Future

Dear Grandchildren,

So here we are. In 2022 millions of people are suffering from the climate catastrophes, killing pollution and pandemic, not mentioning about poverty, gender and social injustice, racism, wars and dictatorships that can go on as long as bad people in power are allowed to grab our natural resources.

Dear Tomorrow,

I will aim to lower my carbon footprint!

Querido amanhã,

Em fim, espero que você receba essa mensagem, e entenda o quão pequenos nos somos e como é importante preservar o planeta terra.

Dear Future Ryan,

I promise to be a knight in the campaign of truth seeking.

Dear Future Grandchild,

We can learn a lot about how to treat others from stories that have been passed from generation to generation.

To the generation after mine,

But when you encounter that resistance–and you will, regularly–know that you must respond just how we have had to these past 50 years. With love, and sternness, and most of all, courage. Because that is what the resistance fears the most. We who came before you promise that we will do the same while we wait for you. Know that you will never be alone.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to work with my family and neighbors to reduce carbon output.

Dear Students,

I imagine at this point we have dropped our addiction to coal, gas, and oil and that our environment has made a turn for the better with the solar, wind, and other unimagined (at this point) alternative energy choices are in place.

To my daughters,

In order for you two be happy and healthy, we all need to work hard to prevent climate change.

Dear Matthew, Sam, and Sophie,

There is a promise in the Bible: ‘I shall restore the years that the locusts have eaten’ and that points to a promise of complete healing and restoration. But until that comes I intend to do my best to ‘save the planet’ in whatever way I can, and I encourage you to do the same.

Dear Grandchildren,

I hope we can pass on a better place to live so that my grandchildren and their future children can enjoy the beauty of nature that our wonderful God has given us.

I love you Earth.
