Dear future cayla,

Dear Cayla, I hope all is well in the future! Your 16 years old writing this and I would love to know what you have accomplished. Im sure many things have changed and you’ve run into many obstacles. what job did you end up pursuing? Did you ever create your own practice and become a psychiatrist? Did you become a teacher like you always wanted too? did you become an actor or director? How are the twins, mom, dad, hannah.. maybe abuelo and abuela? Right now is Corona virus time and the elections are coming up. Do yall still wear mask? And how is the world right now? Did you find yourself a husband and how many kids do you have!? I wonder if I really am going to have six kids like I always said I would. How is trini? Do you even talk to the girls like Leyla and Bella? I doubt it but I truly hope so. This is crazy that im writing this letter to my self 30 years from now cause i know so much has changed. Like im just sitting on my bed on ft with trini doing this for a club. oh god i do not want to  grow old. I really hope this finds you in the future I LOVE YOU.

Climate change is not doing so well in America. I really hope by the time this letter finds you our world is not dead and you have done things to help. climate change right now consist of more frequent flooding in the central US, a longer and more costly wildfire season in California, and droughts across the Great Plains, temperatures are rising, rainfall patterns are shifting, glaciers and snow are melting and the global mean sea level is rising. To help reduce climate change, we must reduce or prevent the emissions linked to human activities. I have never been one involved in helping to reduce climate change, but our world needs it more then ever right now. Some things we can do to help climate change include, powering your home with renewable energy, invest in energy efficient appliances, reduce water waste, pull the plugs, shrink your carbon profile, and much more. I promise that I will do anything in my power to tell my family and friends about this issue. I will make sure they are informed and start taking the necessary precautions to save our world and our future!

More Messages to the Future

Dear Lucie,

Lucie, I love you more than you could ever know and I hope that my promises help contribute to a better world for you and inspire you to take action as well as you grow into the amazing adult I know you will be.

Dear Maddie,

Please know that I have tried very hard to be one of those people, to even make the smallest of changes in order to improve the world for you and your future.

Dear Future Grandchild,

We can learn a lot about how to treat others from stories that have been passed from generation to generation.

To My Future Nephews,

I want you to see those corn fields in the north, the beautiful beaches down in Florida, and the stars in the woods at night.

Querida Tainah,

Quero que você beba água pura, coma alimentos sem agrotóxicos e que sua casinha branca com varanda, seja voltada para o leste, onde o sol vai nascer.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to buy organic food and run more and bike more! (I could use the exercise.)

Dear humankind of today and tomorrow,

I do wish to contribute as much as I can, maybe even start a ripple effect, where other people will start taking action too and inspire other people too.

Dear Future,

I asked you, the future , to help us as well, to preserve our only planet that can give us life, that can let us watch anime, go to the beach, smell flowers, run through the meadow, listen to our songs, be in a concert, and let us live.

Dear Future,

“I knew you would want to know how the future turned out. You got so anxious about climate change as we grew older.  By coming back, I thought I could help you with that.”

People of tomorrow,

Your path will only be as clear tomorrow as we have made it for you today.

Dear James,

More importantly, what are we doing to better our planet and everyone who lives in it?

To you, my dear!

In 2050, I will still be fighting against climate change. I feel that it’s not only my duty, but rather my destiny.
