Dear future American,

I hope that as you are reading this, our American economy is at or very near net-zero carbon emissions. I hope that our poles are not melted, the coral reefs are thriving/ recovering, and overall pollution levels are at record lows. I hope that we elected leaders that recognize climate change. I hope that society overall is happier and healthier than in 2020.

Maybe you heard about bats? Bats, the carriers of this disease that spread among us like wild fire. I love bats. When I was your age today, sitting in the evening on the back terrace of your grandparent’s home in Ibiza, hundreds of bats would play, dance and sing among the trees.
