Dear Future,

Your existence is in danger if we keep doing things the same way that we are doing them today. Global warming has become a great issue and the fact that those in power, such as the politicians are not doing much about it is disheartening. You hear jokes about climate change and global warming often, but what most who make these jokes do not realize is that they are living in it. This is happening every day and it needs to be an issue that gets addressed because climate can be greatly affected in the coming years. In Northern California, where I am from, rain is not something that has been seen a lot in these recent years and it should be something that we see a lot of. California has had some of the worst years when it came to climate and weather. We lost rain for a while and when we got it back the fires started up. Global warming is occurring everyday and soon it will change a lot which will only make things worse for the future. We need to change today in order to keep living our stable lives.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will only use renewable energy.

Dear Logan,

I am working every second of my life, with every ounce of my being, to ensure that I am leaving you and your brother a planet that is safe and secure.

To the future generations,

I hope that you all can enjoy the Smokey Mountains in your lifetime too and that they look how they did back in 2017 when I saw them.

To my precious children,

As you’ve grown older, I’ve become increasingly aware that protecting you means more than ensuring your short-term safety. It also means ensuring that you’ll have a safe planet to live on.

To my future children,

I am doing everything I can because I want the footprint that I leave behind to be my feet in the sand on a beach and not a carbon one.

Dear kids of America,

Please eliminate plastic everything

Dear Donatella,

We ran through the woods laughing, crying, and living.

Dear Luna,

I will never give up on you, on humanity, on the future.

To my brother’s children,

We wondered about how we might be able to eliminate plastics from our day to day routines, and recycled literally everything. We were amazing, you should have seen us. Now and again though, we wondered if these were the right questions.

To My Daughter and Future Grandchildren,

There are so many more things that we can do together to help our Earth from the damage that has been done, and I am so excited to teach you.

Anya,

All you can do is your best. You can encourage the same in others. You can admit your mistakes and those of your ancestors. You can learn from them, and help however you can. I’ll do the same. I promise.

Dear Madeleine,

First of all I hope we succeeded in our dream that yours is a better world than the world of 2021. Today, the forests are burning, the sea levels are rising and wild weather is everywhere. But we are working hard and I’m confident we will succeed.
