Dear Cris,

Typing this up in 2020, it seems that the future is in jeopardy. This pandemic doesn’t seem to be coming to a close anytime soon, yet it seems like the climate has changed since the start of stay-at-home orders around the globe. I go to sleep thinking about how the future might be and whether or not we have changed our ways for the better. I want to be able to live a life without any hardships due to our mistakes in our current time. I want my future children to prosper in a world that they can enjoy. I hope things change for the better.

More Messages to the Future

Queridos filhos Heloísa e Henzo,

Tenho muito orgulho da minha função (agente de fiscalização ambiental do Acre) pois é através dela que posso dar um pouco do meu suor, para que no futuro ambos possam ter um lugar melhor para viver.

Dear Darlings,

I commit to you to change one thing a year in our lifestyle to live more environmentally friendly.

Dear You Tomorrow,

What we failed to do, at least early on, was to see how important it was to put those solutions together. To combine into a way forward.

Dear Tara,

I am sitting in a classroom thinking about you. Which is rare for me. I hope that our family has taken some initiative to do something about changing society instead of building robots and large houses.

Dear Bella,

I promise that I shall continue to do all that is within my capabilities to leave you a world where there is fairness and justice.

Dear Potential Future Kiddo,

To think that my choices of sustainable commuting, eating a plant based diet, and working on our City’s zero waste program likely pale in comparison to the impact of not having a baby is nothing short of devastating.  Does it make me a bad environmentalist to honor my maternal instincts?

Dear future generations,

Young people are making a lot of noise and politicians are now listening.

Dear Child,

Hope we get to have that snowball fight I always dreamed we’d have.

I pledge to use less plastic!

Dear Tomorrow,

I’ll buy only food that I plan to eat before it spoils.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will bring permaculture designs to my community.

Dear Victoria, sugar pie honey bunch, chiquita loquita,

How can I look at your bright eyes and light dance and tell you we are facing a war?
